This Saturday the venue I play at is having the Month 2 AvX optkit. I am one of 2 people playing for the Avengers team. I am having some trouble choosing between Wolverine and Spiderman (300 points and a combined 16 clix) and Ironman and Scarlet Witch (300 points and a combined 14 clix). Scarlet Witch and Ironman have much better range, Ironman always deals knockback damage, and Scarlet Witch has that great No More Mutants that shuts down a team ability. Spiderman has Super Senses (on a 4-6 ) and use of Move and attack at a -1. Wolverine has Regeneration and a lot of damage reduction.
Which team would be better and why?

Neither team is good...
Because they are both fighting for the wrong side.
X-MEN FTW~~~

Normally I would have teamed with X-men, but at my venue there were 5 people on the X-men team and 1 on the Avengers team. I can't really be a part of a six on one fight. Also Spiderman and Wolverine...
With that in mind which team would you rather not play against?
Are you only playing starter figures at 300 points?
If so; either Thor at 200 plus scarlet witch at 100 or
Captain America at 200 plus S witch at 100.
Both of those 200 point figures bring a good deal for the points, especially the Thor (flying, penetrating EE, super str, impervious, etc). The witch is a great support piece for either one, and is a decent secondary attacker.
If you're dead set on doing either Spidey-Wolvy or Ironman-Switch, than the ranged team is the better option to counter attack any Cyclops you run into.
Unfortunately, you'll also be weak against Magneto, who's ES/D (Energy Shield, Deflection) and Invincible clicks are gonna make him a real pain to not only hit, but deal significant damage to.
Unfortunately the Spidey-Wolvy option isn't much better. Although Spidey is one of the best figures in the starter, Wolvy really doesn't have a lot going for him even at 175. Chances are he's not gonna be able to close the gap to deal any damage to the likes of Cyclops or Magneto without the aid of any TK (Telekinesis) before they fry him.
That's why a lot of people use 200pt Thor as their MVP for the Avengers. He deals the most damage, has the best swing (besides maybe Spidey), running shot/pulse wave combo, and can do penetrating if he hits more than one guy in the same attack so all of the X-Men's superior damage reducers don't do squat if he's paired with Switch so she can prob control any misses and Perplex up his ranged to make him even more dangerous.
Which is why at 300pts, you probably can't do any better than 200pt Thor & 100pt Switch. Although I've ran 100pt Cap, 100pt Spidey & 100pt Thor at good effectiveness. I didn't face any Magnetos, who probably would of crushed that team. lol.
If you really REALLY want to use Spidey & Wolvy, and don't necessarily care about doing fantastic but still have a decent team, I'd drop Wolvy all the way down to 75pts and run 125 Spidey, 75pt Wolvy & 100pt Thor or Switch. This wouldn't be a terrible team, Switch would give you the Prob & Perplex you need but Thor would give you another attacker with a dangerous reputation so they might focus down Thor more and give your Spidey-Wolvy team a better chance at closing the gap and doing damage.
Ummm without knowing the exact built-reqs, I don't think I can offer ant constructive help.
If the format is what I think it is (300 pts, only starter figures) and I was building for avengers I would be VERY inclined to play 200 pt thor, and 100 pt switch.
you basically have a huge ranged brick with a 12 AV 5 damage with running shot and a good range value, and also manage to have the big 3 supporting powers, Ppx, PC, Support.
Even using magik to help with movement, and getting the alpha strike, with the ability to just heal back up via support afterwards (or not caring, because they took a mystics feedback, and left your tentpole alone), I can't really think of what it is they can do that concerns me significantly.
