They say that behind every great man is a great woman. So clearly behind every great X-Man is a great X-Woman. And in 2013, a new volume of X-Men was launched with a roster comprised entirely of the merry mutant ladies! In this edition of Comic Accurate, we look at a team (and then some) that we can build based around them!
Normally, I'd open this article filling in the background of the title or the genesis of the roster. But in this case, there's not really anything to say. This didn't spin out of any crossover or major storyline, it wasn't launched by some celebrity artist/writer team. They just replaced the previous team-up oriented volume with an all-female lineup of the X-Men. Slightly less sapphic than the last time this was done, anyways.
The first arc of the series centered on Jubilee (still a vampire, don't ask), returning to the X-Men with her adopted child (again, don't ask) on the run from John Sublime or his sister Arkea or something like that. Most stories involving that guy are a headache, but needless to say, the X-(wo)men are there to come to Jubilee's aid: Storm, Rachel Grey, Rogue, Psylocke and Kitty Pryde.

(Special) Power Absorption: Once during your turn, you may give Rogue a free action and choose an adjacent character and a standard power (other than Outwit or Perplex) that they can use. Until your next turn, Rogue may use the chosen standard power. If Rogue has no action tokens or the chosen character is friendly, deal 1 unavoidable damage to the chosen character.

(Attack) Psycho-Blast: Psylocke can use Penetrating/Psychic Blast as if she had a range value of 6. (Damage) Psychic Knife: Psylocke can use Blades/Claws/Fangs and Exploit Weakness. When she rolls a d6 for Blades/Claws/Fangs, on a result of 1 or 2, give her target an action token in addition to the normal effects.
(Speed) Shadowcat: Kitty Pryde can use Phasing/Teleport and Stealth. She can use Toughness when targeted by a close combat attack. (Attack) Out of the Walls: Kitty Pryde ignores walls for adjacency purposes when making close combat attacks. (Damage) Massive Disruption: When Kitty Pryde moves due to her own action, after actions resolve you may remove from the map any objects occupying her square, an adjacent square, or being held by an adjacent character.
These six ladies of the atom come out to 600 points on the nose and a named theme bonus! I know the sculpt for Kitty is a bit dubious, but that dial is soooo good for her. If they eventually release an ATA for the X-Men or another X-team, I'd just recommend downgrading Rogue to the version from the WatX team dial.
Once the first arc was through, the team already went through a slight shake-up. Rogue was off having adventures with the Avengers, and in a fit of atrocious writing, Kitty abandoned the Jean Grey Institute for Scott's team at the end of the horrendous Battle of the Atom crossover. So to come in and take their places? Karima Shapandar and Monet St. Croix joined up. That's pretty much where the series is now. All we have to do is drop Rogue and Kitty and add in the two newbies.

(Special) Not Tired...Just Tired of You: M can use Willpower. (Attack) Why, Yes, I Have a Healing Factor: At the beginning of your turn, you may roll a d6. On a result of 3-6, heal M of 1 damage. (Defense) Healing Factor Overdrive: M can use Invulnerability and Regeneration. (Damage) Genius Intellect, Too: M can use Outwit and Perplex.
The team is now at 679 and no longer a named theme team unfortunately. You've also got 21 points to work with, which again hopefully could be filled out by ATA's should the Player's Guide ever get updated. If not, Contingency Plan for Storm and Camouflage for Karima are certainly viable options.
Those are basically our teams. Fairly simple, but in a series that's had less than twelve issues out, it's all we can give you... except for this last team. During the series, a couple of villainesses come together as a part of Arkea's machinations: Lady Deathstrike, Typhoid Mary and the Enchantress.

This triumverate of evil is 274 points so far. Adding on the T-Bolts ATA and Auto Regen to Lady Deathstrike along with Getaway for Enchantress will bring the build up to 298 points. If they work a new version of Typhoid Mary in the Deadpool set, maybe the build could theoretically get pumped up to a 400 point level. Either way, this team won't be able to go up against their heroic counterparts. Though the most recent issue mentions that Maddie Pryor and Selene are two prospective recruits, but we'll see down the road if they join up or what.
That's it for our X-Women edition of Comic Accurate. We'll be back next time... for Justice!
I don't even really remember it there. I just remember Karima going bonkers.
There was a soft issue where she and Wolverine spent some time wandering around Jubilee's childhood neighborhood. He secretly buys her childhood home, they go to a beach with the kid, some stuff like that.

I did not. I was reading both Bendis X-Books but the ending of "Battle of the Atom" made me drop them both. That, and the horrible new costumes in All-New X-Men.
I read (and loved) the first arc of this book, but dropped it with the artist change. I just didn't feel like Dodson was consistent with the image Wood's X-Men was going for.
With the villain side of things they've recently added Black Queen and Maddie Pryor to their ranks. So you could switch Lady D to her 76pt version and add Black Queen for 160 and Goblin Queen for 81 for a total of 479. Toss in a few feats and you're all set.
It was awful. Next to "Amazons Attack", it's probably the worst major title crossover I'd ever read. Nothing is accomplished in the story, and the only fallout was just Kitty Pryde jumps the fence in the dumbest move I've seen in an X-Men comic not made by Cyclops.

Don't forget that it gave some exciting* new Brotherhood of Mutant villains! Raze: Daken if he were blue! Ice Thing: not even the real future Iceman! Bruiser: Molly Hayes, evil without a reason! Xavier Jr.: I'm not going to lie, I actually like the young nasty Xavier. Evil psychics are fun.
