We have a Month 5 coming up with 75pt pure faction fleets, no admiral’s orders. I am trying to decide between a couple of different fleets, which of these do you think stands a better chance?
Defiant 24
Klingon Indep Flaship 10
Picard 6
Cheat Death 5
Cheat Death 5
Transwarp drive 3
Cloak 4
Quantum torpedos 6
Secondary torpedos 4
Sulu 3
Spock 5
Total 75Pts
Basically the plan here would be to cloak, fly into the turret’s areas of fire and wait for the other side to come. Hopefully the turrets will get a few hits to weaken the other side until I can get a target lock and behind their ships to fire torpedos.
Vorcha 26
Generic capt 0
Vorcha 26
Generic capt 0
D7 16
Krell 2
Stasis field 5
Total 75 pts
The Klingon fleets would basically go ahead and try to unload and destroy at least 1 opposing ship on the first pass. The D7 build is intended to draw fire onto the D7 so that both my generic captain Vorchas survive a bit longer. If they ignore the D7 and shoot at the Vorchas, a single surviving Vorcha plus the stasis can probably still kill something.
Kraxon
Gul Danar
Forwards Weapons Grid
Tetryon Emmissions
Koranak
Gul Dukat
Captured Intel
Boheeka
Tatryon Emmissions
Both ships can split fire to hopefully take out two OWP in the first turn. After that, you use Tetryon Emissions to keep the ships alive during the joust and then reenable them as you circle back around for the return engagement. Part of me really wishes I could toss on a Breen Aide and Dorsal Weapons Array onto the Kraxon but I feel the FWG is a much better investment in OP5.
As to your proposed builds? I'd go with the 3 ship Klink build personally.
Thanks - that's an interesting build. Unfortunately I don't have any Dominion ships. I think there will be a lot of Dominion fleets at my OP5, the local stores have sold out of the 4th Wing Battlecruiser already.
I was leaning a bit toward my Defiant build. I'll have to look at my Klingons again, I have to admit I do a lot better playing Klingons than I do playing Feds.

I'd personally try:

The Defiant build has got moxie, I like it. But it'll be a lot more tricky to play than the Klingons. It'll either get killed quick or be a great fight.
I was concerned that your low-ranking Klingon captains will get shot out of the sky before they get a chance to fire, but that's probably going to happen even if you use the higher ranking ones. You'll probably see a lot of 1 or 2-ship Fed 9s out there in a 75 point build, so it's probably same-same if you use Worf or a generic.

Definately warming up to the Defiant build. It's really scary to have all of your eggs in one basket but the fact that you can Cloak and then Evade/BS thru the OWP to hopefully remain unscathed until you can get the opponent in your sights has promise.
My only fear: Fed Superfriends build where they can get all the way across the board on turn one, target lock the Defiant and then possibly destroy it. Even with the simultaneous rule, if they are running two ships, you only have the possibility to destroy one of them before you then die.
I tried out the Defiant build and it worked out really well. First guy I played had 2 romulans. He refused to come through the minefield to engage and so I ended up winning that one because he discarded a cloaked mine and then just wandered around the map. Round 2 I played a Dominion Battleship paired with a Rav Laverst and a sideboard resource. I got behind the battleship then blasted away at the Rav and destroyed it. In round 3 I played a cardasian fighters with 2 dominion patrol ships. One patrol landed a suicide attack and forced me to use a cheat death. I destroyed the other patrol and won.
The games went as I planned. I stayed cloaked and let the turrets do the work until I could get into position to target lock and fire, preferably from behind the other ship. Only thing I'd change with the build would be to see if I can use something else instead of the secondary torps. Their 3 dice attack is kind of lame.
