1. Eddie Vedder - really beautiful, I wanted it to go on longer.
2. Def Leppard - pretty good stuff
3. Ringo Starr - always a fun, clean tune from Ringo
4. Arcade Fire - nice key work here
5. Karun - pleasant and upbeat, definitely not what I was expecting. Nice.
6. Weezer - generic pop rock, which is what I expect from them
7. Verve Pipe - not great but not terrible
8. Nickleback - Nails on a chalk board every time
me
Def Leppard - Pyromania is one of the best rock albums of all time
Eddie Veddar (Photographs) - I was surprised at this one. Short but nice.
Nickelback
Arcade Fire
Ringo Starr
The Verve Pipe - I expected more out of these guys.
Weezer - ...and these guys, too.

1- The Verve Pipe: Wow, what a great song that I didn't know before!
2- Ringo Starr: I always thought Ringo exceeded even his own expectations with this song. I like it.
3- Karun: This one really started to grow on me. Its happy and energetic. It could have used a little variation on a theme here and there, but I like it.
4- Def Leppard; Everytime I'm away from this song for a long time, when I come back I expect mediocrity, and am always plesantly surprised when I listen.
5- Eddie Veddar (Photographs): Pretty, and interesting.
6- Nickelback: My best friend loves Nickleback's music, so I have heard them quite a bit. I really don't get them. Not bad, but I can't see this song as special. Maybe that same hook over and over, something.
7- Weezer: Just another Weezer song, I think I'm about over them.
8- Arcade Fire: Pretty much any of us who play piano could play that with a few practice run throughs, and its not even that pretty. I feel like I sat through a piano theory class.
1) Ringo Starr - I'm a sucker for the melancholy that song crerates.
2) Verve Pipe
3) Eddie Veddar
4) Arcade Fire
5) Def Leppard - I actually prefer their first album to their bigger hits.
6) Karun
7) Weezer
8) Nickleback

Pretty good batch this week. Some were very nice indeed and even the lower end of the spectrum would have been mid-range songs in other match ups.
Ringo Starr - Solo Beatles aren't the auto-win that they'd be together, but will usually rank consistently high. Here it's enough to be on top still
Karun - Upbeat and boppy, this was cool. I liked it.
Weezer - Got me dancing along in my chair just a little, so yeah I'll rank it up near the top.
Eddie Vedder - A nice little bit of evocative music
Arcade Fire - Pleasant enough to listen to, but not a whole lot to it.
Lowest three, roughly in order, though they were all pretty close and another day could have been different. None of these were bad. Just putting them together with a "I kinda liked these too, just not as much as the others" group comment

Best 8 songs I've ever heard in a SNDS competition
Ringo Starr – this song brings me back to my old home in NY and hanging out with my best fried and being young again. Great memories.
Def Lepard – I really do love this song. Nice energy, and one of the songs that if someone said, can you explain the Hair-Band era to me, you could put this song on and mime a whole video style show.
Weezer has always understood the qualities that make good pop rock songs. Great harmonies, nice “Oh baby” backing vocals and really good pop rock. I know there’s some great influences here including Beatles. Awesome tune.
Nickelback – I’m not one of those guys who woke up one day and because his friends didn't like this band anymore, said I don’t them either. I like them, and I like this song too. It’s got this simple and nice melody and the chorus is quite sing-along-able and fun. Sometimes we put too much emphasis on rock music having to be something more than just fun. This song is about memories and isn't that the best thing about rock music? It’s the memories it creates.
Verve Pipe –Another song where I really dug the rhythmic vibe and that drew me into it immediately. So far through the first five songs, I am liking this set of tunes.
Arcade Fire – There’s something genuinely sweet about hearing this song and thinking, what was it about this particular piano piece that made the composer title it Photograph. Is it because it sounds like rain, or maybe flowers in the wind and someone snapped a picture at that perfect moment when children are playing or lovers are laughing. Don’t know and don’t care, absolutely love the song.
Karun – Rhythmically, I liked this song. There was also a good dance-able quality that I didn't feel was diminished by its pop sensibilities.
Eddie Vedder – As much as I love Eddie and Pearl Jam and rank them right up there as a favorite band of all time, this one will be my last song in the voting. It will also be the 8th and final song that I liked out of 8 songs. It’s a nice song and it complements the movie well, but it wasn't long enough and lacked the unique tenor/baritone that we've grown accustomed to hearing.
The top two songs are exactly where I thought they'd be, albeit a bit close in points than I would have thought. As I said in my post when I ranked these, I thought it was the best group ever and the fact that only 24 points separates 1st and 8th place says a lot. Usually we have songs here that can't get out of the teens and this time had no song below 30.
