Anybody notice this sneak-around 1st Rnd Immunity?
Iron Man Mk 40
SONIC BOOM: Give Iron Man Mk 40 a move action and modify his speed value by +3. Iron Man Mk 40 must move along a horizontal or vertical path until he can't move. All other characters occupying squares Iron Man Mk 40 moved through are dealt 1 damage and are given an action token. Characters in squares adjacent to the path are given an action token.
FIRST-ROUND IMMUNITY
During the first round of the game, characters that have not been given an action, placed, or moved can’t be targeted by opposing characters, knocked back, attacked, or damaged, unless a game effect that does so specifically states that it occurs at the beginning of the game.
So my opponent goes first. He TKs out Iron Man Mk 40 as far as he can go (from row 2 to row 10, IIRC). Then he moves straight for my big gun figure (with his Speed of 15, he can move to row 25. There are 24 on the map).
While he cannot damage the character, it sure looks like he can give the character, and adjacent characters, action tokens. In play, that's exactly what we went with. Just curious as to whether anyone else noticed this - errata'd it - had a defense for it - ruled against it. It sucked having to push or clear my figs before even taking a single action. The movie fig wasn't on my radar. He should be on everyones'.

Doubtful. If you see him on the other side of the table, you can always put all of your guys in the back row to completely prevent this from happening.
Also your opponent basically just handed you 165 points to give some of your guys action tokens. I'd be okay with that.

(Improved) Faster Than You Can Imagine: Improved Movement: Ignores Characters
(Special) A Need For Speed: Opposing characters within 8 squares given a power action to activate Running Shot or Hypersonic Speed are dealt 1 unavoidable damage after actions resolve.
(Speed) Sonic Boom: Give Iron Man Mk 40 a move action and modify his speed value by +3. Iron Man Mk 40 must move along a horizontal or vertical path until he can't move. All other characters occupying squares Iron Man Mk 40 moved through are dealt 1 damage and are given an action token. Characters in squares adjacent to the path are given an action token.
(Defense) Trading Protection for Maneuverability: Iron Man Mk 40 can use Toughness and Energy Shield/Deflection. When Iron Man Mk 40 has one action token, he can't be targeted with a close combat attack.
I wouldn't necessarily consider that move being a definite 165pt gift. IF anyone that was worthwhile to range atk Mk40 would have to cut his ESD/Toughness combo, and those he Sonic Boomed would be adjacent and he can't be targeted with Close Combat atks when he has one action token.
Also, Opposing characters w/I 8 squares are dinged 1 unavoidable damage when using a power action to Running Shot or Hypersonic.
Seems solid to me, I've been eye'ing him since I pulled him from a discount display some time ago.
Seems like it could easily be beat for that. His defense can be outwitted, he would be in the middle of your opponents pieces, and he can't do much the following turn except push to run away? I would be ok if my opponent did that to me.

The more likely route, your "easy" counter is stopped dead in its tracks with a shiny pimp glove or bling ring Thats an Infinity Gauntlet or Black Light Ring for the swagless
ok, but what about Ziran the Tester? if you go first and your opp fails a test, do they not receive the damage?
They will still be dealt the damage:

TESTING: At the beginning of the game, roll a d6 and click the Testing dial that many times. Then roll 2d6 three times and turn the Testing dial that many times, and record the click landed on after each roll. These three clicks correspond to the tests Ziran will perform this game. For each failed test, Ziran the Tester may deal 2 unavoidable damage, divided as he choses, among opposing characters.
Click Test: Does the opposing force have...
1 a character that can use Smoke Cloud on their opening click?
2 a character that can use Force Blast on their opening click?
3 a character that can use Battle Fury on their opening click?
4 a character that can use Energy Explosion on their opening click?
5 a character that can use Mind Control on their opening click?
6 at least 5 different team abilities?
7 at least 5 characters of 50 points or less?
8 at least 5 characters with Unique rings?
9 a character that can use Enhancement on their opening click?
10 a character that can use Leadership on their opening click?
11 a character that can use Support on their opening click?
12 a character that can use Defend on their opening click?

BTW, he's also got Shape Change. Not saying that he can't go down, just think that he's got a fair to good chance of making it a turn or two (if not longer). All a matter of relic/resource, and support. A few Perplexes before launch would be even more of a deterrent.
Unavoidable for using Running Shot or Hypersonic.
Pushing characters tokened if they don't have Indom, Willpower, PC/Q
ESD for ranged atks
1 token on MK40 = can't be targeted with Close Combat attacks
Shape Change
You'd likely need a few outwits to wrestle him down. In higher point games, if you could run multiples, I'm wondering if you could first turn damage opposing characters via characters with 2 tokens on them?
3x MK40s blaze into your camp side by side. **ouch**

The characters could not be damaged with pushing.
As others have said, in practice, I think you'll find that it won't prove to be as wonderful as you are assuming.

Thank you for reading this. It makes me feel important.
