Holy Aiko Biaye, Batman. I thought I owned the only Ginger Baker's Air Force album in the world. I used to work in an Illinois Steel Mill in late 1972 (with "Working Class Hero" stenciled on my hard hat), and occasionally sang Aiko Biaye just to freak out the Steel Mill veterans a bit. There aren't many words, and they thought I was having a hippy, religious experiance. I guess anything CAN show up on the forums.
1. Jane

Gap Band – Now that was sweet. Funky; nice bass. AND it had brothers in silver cowboy suits dancing.
Sonny Boy Williamson – You could never write a song like this in today’s world, but thankfully, back in the days of the juk joints, you could get away with this. Awesome song.
Johnny Lee Moore – Do I hear the roots of rock and roll in here. Yes. Yes I do.
PPM – Such a bohemian type of crowd, and the song is just what you want from a folk song and the trio vocals stick out.
Kim Wilson – Did I hear twinges of Stride piano style in that Boogie Woogie? The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy on the Pie-anny makes this one special
Baby Bash – Not as tight as the Gap Band, but a fun little piece of trippy music with fun lyrics.
Vanity Fair – I usually love stuff like this, but this one didn’t too much for me.
Ginger Baker – SCHWING! The girl in white has wonderful lungs. The song itself lacked the punch and power I’ve come to expect from GB. I think I remember this song from a stoned haze and although I may have liked it then, I find it too artsy-fartsy for my rock penchant. Not even Ginger’s skills on the skins saved this one.
Jane – When it comes to Krautrock of the 70s and 80s, give me Bastard and Keith Kossof, of whom I just learned is not related to Paul Kossoff. Whups.

1- Jane - Who the heck is Jane? Now I really have to find out, because I really enjoyed this.
2- Ginger Baker's Air Force - I'm not sure if this is progressive Rock (never got the definition pinned down), but I do know there were several groups about this time that seemed to be trying to "Jazzify" psychedelic music. Not my most favorite musical direction, but I do enjoy groups of this sort for a change, including Atomic Rooster and, more distantly, Quicksilver. I think part of the fun was that these groups could occasionally break into something I DID love, listening for one of those moments, and occasionally finding it. Most of the time, while the music was creative, I didn't find that moment, but the fun was hoping you would.
3- Sonny Boy Williamson - Sometimes you have to listen to your roots, and this is part of the reason we have what we do today.
4- Kim Wilson - One of the more listenable songs in the group. Nothing we haven't heard before, but a solid performance.
5- Peter, Paul & Mary- Always good, often great. This is one of the "good" offerings.
6- The Gap Band - Nice enough offering
7- Baby Bash - I was torn on this one, but ended up enjoying it a little bit.
8- Vanity Fair - Nothing really stands out, sort of filler music.
9- Johnny Lee Moore - Not a song I enjoy.

Wow. I only opened this link because I was expecting Eddie Rabbit's tune to make the list. What I did not expect was a group called Jane! How have I never heard of these guys?!?!! I'm a lover of all things 70s. One song and now I'm busy scouring the intarwebs for more. Serious rock for 1974! Gawd that rocked!
Jane - Jane, Jane, Jane....where ya been all my life?!? Marry me, Jane!
Peter Paul and Mary (Three voices, two guitars, one bass - and still more talent than you'll find on most stages today. PPM are always best live...which is really saying something.)
Vanity Fair (I know this one from my "Have a Nice Day: Superhits of the 70s CDs. Such a fun song and a nostalgic look back at a time when such a simple, easy song could still be a big hit.)
Ginger Baker's Air Force (I wanted to rate this one higher, truly. Just couldn't.)
Gap Band (Oh hell yeah!)
Sonny Boy Williamson (Ooooh, I can get lost in the links surfing through music like this. I'll share this one with my dad. He'll appreciate it.)
Kim Wilson (That is one ugly chick, but the song was great fun.)
Johnny Lee Moore (Sorry...just not my cup of coffee.)
Baby Bash (No. Just...gawd, no!)
May all your hits be crits!
