ok so twice now this ability has caused SO MUCH trouble that i almost wanna just trade him cause by the end of the argument im stressed from the arguing and i dont even wanna play the match anymore. the ability is simple but everyone makes it sound like the chicken or the egg question. im talking of course about SLOSH #49 Solomon Grundy. for those wondering what ability could cause so much frustration. Here you go
THE END OF SOLOMON GRUNDY: At the beginning of the game, place 3 Resurrection tokens on Solomon Grundy's card. Solomon Grundy places 1 Resurrection token on his character card each time he hits an opposing character. When Solomon Grundy would be KO'd and has at least one Resurrection token on his card, instead click him to click #9, heal him of 1 damage for each Resurrection token on his card and remove all Resurrection tokens from his card. This ability can't be ignored.
so this seems pretty straight narrow right? that's what i thought too. before i start my argument let me direct you to a small passage in the ability

The issue seems to come into play when Grundy is probbed. Last week at my AvX month 4 this happened. when i roll for grundy and hit. he gets a token then he gets probbed. now here is where the #### hits the fan. our judge said and i qoute
"when you hit with a attack, grundy gains a immediate token. prob just forces you to re-roll the attack. it doesn't change that the attack still technically hit. So Grundy still gets his token. if Grundy lands the second hit after prob then he gets another token. It makes it so probbers really have to consider other options"
which in a way makes sense. the prob ignores the roll for damage purpose. it doesn't change the fact that grundy would still get a token for the hit. meaning that if Grundy hits and you prob and he hits again. that's 2 tokens for him. So naturally no one but me wants that if im playing grundy
i have played him at two venues and this is always causing a argument. i want this settled once and for all and HCrealms is more or less the supreme court of rules so...please help
When Probably Control is used, it ignores the original roll. The hit never happens if the roll is ignored.
Basically, here is the timing of the said attack:
- Grundy declares an attack
- Player A rolls dice to determine if the attack hit
- If the attack hit, calculate damage and add a token to Grund- OBJECTION!
- Player B uses Probability Control, the roll to check the hit is ignored. Grundy's attack never happened and Player A must roll again to see if it hits.
The dice roll isn't what determines damage, the dice roll determines if the attack hits.

If people are wondering what it is, then the "of course" isn't really the best choice.

If he gets a successful attack roll which is probbed into another successful attack roll (and the attack is not evaded), then there is just one hit.
You aren't ignoring the roll for damage purposes. The entire roll is ignored, thus it never happened, thus there was no first hit.
PROBABILITY CONTROL Once during your turn, this character allows you to reroll one of your rolls, ignoring the original roll. A character using this power must be within range (minimum range 6) and line of fire to the character for which the original roll was made. Using the same rules, once per round during an opponent’s turn, this character allows you to force that opponent to reroll one of their rolls, ignoring the original roll.

The original roll never happened, you do not get a token.

FINGER SLASH: Lady Deathstrike can use Blades/Claws/Fangs. Give Lady Deathstrike a close combat action and target every adjacent opposing character. If she hits, she must use Blades/Claws/Fangs, divides the damage dealt among the hit targets, and then increases the damage dealt to each hit target by 1.
You wouldn't argue to deal 1 to each hit target if you prob'd Lady Deathstrike would you? of course not. If the roll is prob'd, she never hit.
