While you are Cloaked, after you perform a Green Maneuver, you may perform a Sensor Echo Action as a free Action.
Captain:
Liviana Charvanek
Cost: 4
Skill: 6
Elite Talent: 1
Whenever one of your Crew Upgrades is supposed to be disabled, roll 1 defense die. If you roll a Battlestations result, that Upgrade is not disabled. If you are disabling the Crew Upgrade to perform its Action or ability, that Action or ability is still performed even if the Upgrade does not disable.
Elite Talent:
Direct Command
Cost: 2
Action: Discard this card and spend your Target Lock to gain +2 attack dice this round.
Crew:
Tal
Cost: 2
When attacking a ship with a Scan Token beside it, during the Roll Attack Dice step of the Combat Phase, you may disable this card to gain +1 attack die.
Tech:
Advanced Cloaking
Cost: 4
When attacking while you are Cloaked, if there are no Auxiliary Power Tokens beside your ship, you may place an Auxiliary Power Token beside your ship before rolling any dice to keep your Cloak Token from flipping to its red side.
Weapon:
Plasma Torpedoes
Cost: 4
Damage: 4
Range: 1-3
Attack: (Target Lock) Spend your target lock and disable this card to perform this attack.
You may fire this weapon from your forward or read firing arcs.
I think that is a great addition to the Romulan fleet.
I'm especially looking forward to using the Advanced Cloak with the D'dridex.
Range 1-3 Plasma Torps go on the Gal'Gathong. I need to digest the captain a bit to see if I like her. The crew is good, but dependent on your opponent, which I never really like.
But - can you double Sensor Echo with it's ship ability?
There are no other Romulan crew that disable to provide their action so the Captain has little use on a Romulan pure fleet unless you are running Tal.
The generic has different upgrades as to the retail expansion so this expansion is awesome with giving me options fir my second retail expansion as I can now have varied builds.
Plasma Torps - 4 damage/4 points, no blank reroll, but can be shot at range three now. Not too bad of a trade off, I guess.
Direct Command - so going on the Thong with Romulan Commander.
Not sure on Advanced Cloak. I hate Aux Power so it may be too situational for me to really consider it. I'd honestly still pay the faction penalty and use the Klink Adv Weapon System.
I do like that the Advanced Cloak works well with the ship's ability, but overall, I think this is the most underwhelming of the boosters so far, which is really sucky because the Romulans are notorious for their Tech, and this being the only 18 point ship (so far) means that it has the most upgrades in the tournament.

But, the AWS requires you to use an action to reenable it each round you want to use it (on top of two more points, being out of faction). Adding an Aux Power means you still have your actions if you so choose (if you make a green move).
.... Sob I was going to avoid all of these blind boosters... now with Advanced Cloaking I'll need at least 3 of these just for that stupid card.... dag nabbit
Every time I see these I wonder what the cards she does NOT show are. This is her 30 point build not all that come with it so I figure there has to be two or three other options out there. Showed my two Romulan players and they are excited about it.
Magic is not for Parlor Tricks~
Sparrow, Moros Second Degree Master
It's nifty to get another named ToS Bird of Prey, and I really dig its special power. I like the extended-range plasma torps. Tal will be handy against all those treacherous human ships and their scanning shenanigans, and he's cheap.

heh, yeah, that was what I immediately thought, even though in the video she says the Romulans have lots, they really are almost all discards. If it could maybe prevent a Pilot from discarding she would be great. As is I can't imagine ever using her over the other Romulan 6-skill Captains.
I caught the video just as I was heading out the door yesterday, so I didn't get much time to look at it.............now that I have (and Romulans are the faction I enjoy playing the most so far...);
The Ship
I can dig it. Being able to Sensor Echo 1-2 (after just having played my Tie Interceptors last weekend) it should be a bit easier to put yourself into both shooting positions and and set yourself up to use a green maneuver next turn. I actually think that, when I have the points, I would run this with Additional Weapons Array over the Preatus wAWA......and the Preatus has been good to me.
IF/When we get more modification upgrades to Sensor Echo (like using banks instead of straights) this is going to one of the first ships I'll think about.
The Captain
It's a good ability and more options for captains in the Romulan fleet that have ETs are welcome.................but like DS mentioned there aren't a lot of Romulan effects that require disabling crew (yet!).....it's a lot of discards right now.
Maybe down the line she'll have more in faction cards to use her effect on......Remans seem like they'd be disables right?
The Elite Talent
Like DS said, it's going to the Romulan Commander.....I very rarely have a second Elite Talent on him (usually due to point restrictions) and this is can be a good effect for very little cost. I like it.
The Crew
Cheap, passive that requires you to disable......good with it.
The Tech
...
Yes, please. The only issue I see with it is that it's a Tech slot.....if you're a Romulan ship you're probably already thinking Interphase-generator...and then this second.
It is kinda funny how after Voyager releases the 'this would be good with Chekov' seems to be coming more common.
The Weapon
Another Plasma Torp option....that can be shot at Range 3, the Gal'Gathong is pleased by this development. It will probably never be the first one I pick (the 5 dice one it too much awesome) but it will probably be the second one I look at to increase my options.
Overall, I like it............I think it should play fine in the event. I think as I like the Romulans the most at this point I'd want a double of this one first.
No suprise at all that Teri left her Klingons til last.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?
But - can you double Sensor Echo with it's ship ability?
Don't think so. I don't have my rulebook handy to quote, but I'm pretty sure a ship can't perform the same action twice in one turn.

Yeah, I think I also lean towards advanced weapons systems, but I do like that there's synergy between the advanced cloak and the ship's special ability. Take an auxiliary power token when you attack, then do a green maneuver to get rid of it and take the free sensor echo.

That is correct.

Don't get me wrong, it's good and synergizes extremely well with the ship itself. I just don't think it's a card that I will have to worry about going the extra lengths to get multiples so I can run it on numerous ships. If I'm filling a Tech slot on Roms, I'm usually reaching for Interphase or Cloaked Mines.
It might be an interesting upgrade on the Thong if you Flagship a Tech slot onto it. Ind/Fed would give it a free evade. You keep your Cloak up and just keep re-enabling your torps as your action if you perform green maneuvers.
I just noticed how well Tal will work with the Valdore equipped with a Romulan Pilot. Pilot gives you a scan token, green maneuver gives you a plus one, disable Tal to add another plus one, and now you've got a nice 6 dice attack that reduces the defenders agility by 1.
EDIT Oh, nevermind, I totally mis-read his ability this time. Nothing to see here.
I'm glad to see this booster. The anti-Borg Fed stuff is OK, and I want the Maquis ship for Eddington ("YOU BETRAYED YOUR UNIFORM!") alone, but it's nice to add more ToS ships/crew.
(She should still be a "1" skill, though...falling for Kirk and Spock's ruse was pretty dumb.)
If I get one, it will give me an excuse to play the Gal Ga'Thong I have never used, too!
