Rules are up for all three of the upcoming Collective events. They look pretty interesting, and all three should really shake up fleet building, especially the cooperative/competitive scenarios in two and three.
Just gave them a quick look and they do look very interesting, I'll have to digest them a bit...............but from my quick look they do look like they will be fun to run, build for and play.
But I did note that the instruction sheet for Month 3 only lists 1 Grand Prize and makes no note of the second that the components list does........that might be nothing but after the Dice Masters suggested LE distribution I am far more concerned by this type of thing as the OPs go.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

I noticed that also, are the judges not getting a Grand Prize in AW? Are they doing it in Dice Masters too?

Cooperative scenarios should be interesting, and Wolf 359 looks like a crazy fight. Those cubes are terrifying, I wonder if the oversize cube that we just found out about will have stats and rules similar to them, same way the prize DS9 could essentially be a replacement for the oversize token.
I'm hoping my venue ends up with some leftover map sets, too, because these would be fun scenarios to re-play at home.
So on question. On the last month, the special rules state
"If the BCT executes a Maneuver that would cause its
final position to overlap the base of a ship, the BCT
moves back along its Maneuver Template as normal.
If the overlapped ship has a Hull of 7 or less, that
ship suffers 2 damage AND loses its “Perform
Action” Step.
During"
The Skill for the BCT is considered 10, which means realistically it'll move after every other ship gets their Perform Action step. So is that last part just wasted generally or am I missing something?
They all look fun, and I'm glad to see that Attack Wing tournaments have the added flair of missions like these. Always felt like Heroclix could do better in that department. All things considered though, I'm more skeptical about the blind boosters contributing much to the battle except as cannon fodder in month 2. Month 3 seems brutal, since the object is basically to deal 40 damage to highly powerful Borg ships while trying to make the ships target your opponent. I'm a little surprised one of the end conditions for the scenario isn't the total destruction of both fleets, because that's something I could easily see happening.
I think Wizkids just wants their prizes to be prizes and any payment for running events to be handled by the venue, not Wizkids.

Yeah my venue doesn't pack that much in where he often has lots of extra stuff. First the dice were hard to get and many don't then they are hard to restock. I have 2 venues I judge AW at, one I do Clix at and doing XW there too. Both want me to do the D&D when it shows up so it looks as if the dice masters in the Winchester VA area will be non-existent. I have no time to build up a new game AGAIN to get a pat on the back.

I often have extra elements of all kinds if you need them and will have some of these too. Hit me up.

Before official organized play events, most of us that organized games (getting people together to play, not necessarily for tournaments) did so because we enjoyed playing the games we organized. I didn't even expect a pat on the back. People showing up to play is what made it worthwhile for me.
Official prizes have kind of changed that dynamic to where many people involved with those types of games need to feel that they are getting something "more" out of them beside just getting to play.

When I started Clix where I judge I didn't realize a judge got prizes I did it so my daughter would have a place to play away from the other venue where the two sharks hung out. I started Attack Wing at both venues because I love this game. I enjoy it much more than clix and will upsell it to everyone I can. Same with X Wing, I have only played two games myself but I find it very enjoyable and I know what you get with that. The Dicemasters is a different thing. I am the only guy in the area who managed to get the starter. A guy from out of town bought all the boosters at one store and most of the others from the place where I got the starter.
Wizkids has sent memos and email's to both place to get them to "encourage" players to join. The game is kind of fun. I played it a couple times but with the D&D Attack Wing coming up I would rather spend time doing that and supporting it. Not to sound mercenary but if they want me to divert my time and money to sell their game then Wizkids should support the judges. I get more clix, AW and XW ships sold in my venue and AW and XW at the second venue than anyone else so yes a reward would be nice I have other games to push and the one Saturday and Sunday a month I am doing nothing right now are kind of precious to me.

But, it is your choice to spend your time and money that way. There are currently no official volunteers for Wizkids products like there were in the past. As far as I can tell venues are encouraged to run the events as they see fit either with or without a "judge". Granted, a judge is a good idea for rules disputes, but a good community of players can judge each other.
When I hear event organizers saying they should be compensated, it usually just comes down to them wanting the LEs as compensation. In other words they don't just want compensation, they want specific compensation.
Maybe you need to start talking to the owner about being compensated for your time, as he is the one that is immediately benefiting from your love of the games.
I think LE prizes should be prizes, not compensation. Compensation should be store credit or special discounts. I see nothing wrong with seeking compensation for your time, I just think your open hand is pointed in the wrong direction.

Awesome, thanks a ton! I haven't been able to get out to my venue for a game in nearly 2 months, but hopefully can soon. If they won't have map sets for the players, then I'll definitely get in touch.
