To be honest, I'm disappointed that it is only 2 ships. The Outrider isn't a surprise, but the Decimator is. I don't even know what it is. But damn, if that mini doesn't look good. So many turrets. I'm still really adjusting to what was shown.
I guess FFG decided to follow Wizkids' lead in terms of smaller waves.
Yeah, the Decimator is a freaking tank. It will also be interesting to see it on the field, as it appears the base is larger than normal large (which is probably why it is more expensive than the standard large ship). Three crew slots is going to be very, very interesting. And the crew we've seen is going to be fun. Mara Jade to discourage Range 1 engagements, and the Fleet Admiral for some awesome token passage. I'm dying to know what Iceheart does.
Also, the Outrider can have a give up range 1 attacks to have a 4 Atk turret (that also ignores range bonuses at Range 3). Some very interesting and risky strategies there.
I'm pretty sure those images showing the bases are just photo shopped and skewed to keep the minis in the picture. They will likely both have the same size base. Base size is an important game balance mechanic. I would hate to see them just start fudging with different sizes when the A-Wing has the same size base as the HWK-290.
Venue: The Gaming Goat in Elgin, IL. Find us in the WizKids event system.
I really don't know. The Falcon seems to spill out over the base more than the Decimator. And the Decimator is large enough to cause a $10 price increase. Someone on the FFG boards mentioned that the Decimator would be 5.5 inches, in scale. We will just have to wait and see. We will most likely get some confirmation this weekend, as I imagine these will be the new shiny FFG is going to show off at their Regional.
Third, both big bases.......eh, if they are interesting enough I suppose.
As for the cards, happy to see Mara show up.....and she looks nasty too.....maybe she might be spending some time in a TIE Phantom in the near future?
And dang it, Lando, stop making everyone else look bad! Not sure if we'll ever see much of Falcon-Lando anymore (1 down 3 more to get rid of!! )......not sure how Rebel ships that can have two crew don't at least consider going with C3P0 and Lando.......the idea of it is off-putting.
Overall I'm not attached to these ships very much (although I know the Outrider is one of the EU ships that will be very recognizable and many people will/should be happy with it's inclusion) but I look forward to what they have to offer.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

Hey, the Outer Rim Smuggler isn't exactly burning up the tables. So, 2 down, 2 to go.
While I agree more turrets isn't exactly what the game needs, I do feel that these are implemented better. The YT-2400 only has a 2 Atk. It will lack the Falcon's punch. Granted, for one ship, you can upgrade the Heavy Laser Cannon into a massive turret. But, that leaves you completely vulnerable at range 1. Not the biggest issue with it's Barrel Roll, but it will be fun chasing down the Outrider. The Outrider doesn't scare a Phantom or Interceptor like a Falcon. Though, it will be interesting to see how the three less hull affects it, even with the higher agility.
As for the Decimator, I somehow suspect it will make the Shuttle look speedy. Though sadly, the great Turret counter of Outmaneuver is wasted when going against it. I suspect it will be an interesting centerpiece of a squad with all those crew slots.
And, in the end, Rexlar Brath just drools over that 0 Agility and 12 Hull.
