Thank you everyone that attended and help make the Denver Comic Con’s first Super Qualifier a success. I know as attendees there is lots to do and I want to thank the most devoted of Clix players that could stick it out for an entire Saturday and 4 grueling rounds of Swiss play and then a Top 16 Single Elimination later that evening!
I’d like to personally thank my core team that help me run the events this weekend. A big THANK YOU to Chester Pardy and Jymn McGhghy, my two other judges and my head demo master Art Bell.
Special thanks to one of my favorite venues, The Wizard’s Chest for sponsoring our incredible Super Qualifier and providing incredible prize support for 3 events!

Also stay tuned for the next podcast episode of "The Quarry" which will feature the Denver Comic Con ROC Super Qualifier , a interview with Patrick Yapjoco along with other pertinent ROC information.
The meta here definitely prepared for more Copycat than the Nationals teams did. understandably so because we didnt know the capabilities of copycat.
With Copycat proving to be not as dominant as once thought, Iron Pharoah is almost always replaced with Lydea and Ophidian. but were copycat to prove effective, I feel this meta represented in Denver would be pretty much it, right now.
That 6th place team is doing really good with Ophidian, too. Ophidian basically answers so many threats in the meta which is why its on the nationals winning team. That 6th place team can be tweaked to do better against Pharoah/lydea for sure.
I like that 6th place team, and Patrick's clever use of Despotellis(without Adara) . Its basically counter tech to beat Adara as well as other stealth/bystander/bizarro teams. genius stuff there!
All the teams are solid.. great job guys!
Thanks Howard for the report.
definitely the most diverse and healthy meta we've had in years!
ps- that 2nd place team is surprising! so look guys, teams can still be effective without the 3 big entity chases seeing play!
pss: so Whizzer is the first Super rare Prime to see top tier play? be curious to see how it effects price (only a few thousand in existence, if that). it placed in nationals, here, and continues to do very well at high attendance venues..
currently playing:
Dragon Quest VIII
Heroclix
Go
currently listening:
The Shins- Chutes to Narrow
Yo La Tengo- And then nothing turned itself inside out.
The Faint- Wet from birth
Congrats to all! Great to see a variety of builds.

Nice job to all! Interesting teams up there!
The Power Battery (Green) will be my go-to resource. Most dismiss it because of the threat of Lydea Mallor removing the ring, but you need to add it as an afterthought/filler, as opposed to building around it. However, not every team is going feature Copycat or Lydea, as evidenced by the Top 10 in this event.
5th ROC SQ this year, probably the funnest yet-
finished 10th with:
Bizarro (225) w/Phoenix Force (24)
Destiny (DOFP,50)
3-1 in qualifying, losing to Dan's 6th place team. Played him again in top 16, beat me again. Fun games- good player, great guy.
It was great to run in to out buddies from Majestix- class guys, on the board and off. Congrats to Pat on #5.
Alex-
Great event, perfectly executed. We'll do everything we can to be back next year.
Great meeting Martin, RTD, Razma, Mr.Atomic, the cosplay Catwoman (Well, I didn't actually meet her, but she made top 32 and won some dice- A Hero Clix first?)
It would be so cool if any of you guys could make the October ROC SQ at my home venue, Fat Ogre, in October in the great state of Texas!
