Saturday saw Comic Quest in Evansville, Indiana host their first every Super Qualifer with 35 players in attendance. Up to this point, we’d hosted three feeder events. Given the advance to the tournament scene since the release of War of Light and the July 2014 rotation, I was especially excited to see all the team variations. After 5 grueling rounds of Swiss, our Top 16 players went another four rounds until only a lone winner could be left standing. Who won? What were the teams? Read on to find out:

On behalf of Comic Quest, I’d like to thank everyone who came out played, as well as the committee behind the ROC for creating such a great event. Here’s to a great finish to the 2014 season and strong start to the 2015.

Fascinating first place team! I'd have thought Bullseye was too fragile to win that many games.
I think the 3rd place team is missing someone.
Justin is one of my good buddies, the team is surprisingly brutal. The Rings offer way to much flexibility, for a guy who comes with a kitchen sink. Congrats Justin, now I gosta post congrats in his Facebook page!
Nice job champ! Winning with $15.50 worth of figures (resource is a bit more but depends on if you borrowed, collected and traded, or straight up purchased). I like seeing the winner take down Entity teams, even if they are delicious to play!
I just wonder about mobility, there's the vortex ring, but other then that neither can fly. And only have like, 8 speed.
The way I've seen it, Mobility was never a huge issue. The Vortex Ring allows TK, Bill allows the TK'd Bullseye to draw lines of fire almost without question, Flame Blast allows for Psyblast, and the player can choose +1 to all or Outwit via Ring Consumption. That's only if the opponent stays out of double Bullseye reach, too.
The team can park in the start zone and stack rings, forcing the opponent to want to deal with it sooner than later. That's why it works; the opponent more or less needs to bumrush the team.
It's a glass cannon team, but it does work. Would you want to let your opponent stack a Bullseye with a Flame Blast, Electro Blast, +1 Consumption, Perplex from Blind Al, and have two probs to wreck your day? I sure wouldn't.

How dare the winner not use even one entity! Don't you know they are the most broken thing going with Heroclix at the moment, just what will the whiners have to complain about! Think of the whiners next time people and if you are planning on winning please try and uses at least 3 entities so people can complain about the cost of your team.
Seriously though congrats to everyone that took part!

All these teams are so different that's awesomeness. I like the Bizarro and Superman Acrion figure team only because it had to look hilarious on the board

Where's that guy who kept ranting about entities in the other posts?
And who is he gonna give the $100 to?
The winner of the event.
Congrats.

Bizarro 250
Superman Action Figure 23
Phoenix Force (Full) 27
27 Points would have it assigned to Bizarro with 4 Shards not all 5. I'm assuming it didn't have the Namro Shard on there.
I was going off the tournament sheets as I typed and I didn't notice that. I'm sure it was an error because six opponents signed off on his build and no one said anything.
About the event, all in all it was a great time and I enjoyed seeing some variety of teams. After reading all the fear online about entities, I was sure it was going to come down to an entity vs entity fight in the finals. Justin played an unique team and goes to show creativity is just as powerful as how much you can spend on a team.
Did Shuma have an Entity on it? I didn't think that was possible.
Quote
ENTITY POSSESSION: When Entity would be KO'd or, if you pay 25 points when building your force, place Entity on another friendly character's card if that character is 25 points or more, has the "fist" or "sharpshooter" symbol, the "shield" or "indomitable" symbol, and the "tiny" or "burst" symbol. That character has Entity's keywords and can use the Possessed ability with this character as the Possessor. When that character is KO'd, Entity is removed from the game.
Which is to say, Entities cannot possess Colossals, Duo's, Giants or Vehicles.
