I didnt see this asked before (not that I searched all that hard...lol) But are attack wing ship bases the same as x-wing ship bases? The colored ones would be nice to differentiate is multi-player battles.

No. There is some subtle differences in the base designs.

Yea, the X-Wing bases have two "nubs" designating where the movement template is supposed to go wheras the attack wing bases have an actual indent for the template.

I don't know what kind of bases the X-Wing ships come with, but the ones packed with AW ships are clear.

I saw someone take a sharpie to the clear ones to make custom colors. Came out really well. If you want colored bases, I'm sure you have plenty of extras to use as test subjects

That's an excellent idea!

X-wing are clear as well. Personally I like the AW ones over the Xwing Design, those little nubs just bug me.

You can also paint the underside of the base edges as well. I painted them and added metal washers to mine (note paint the arrow white or yellow THEN paint the base a different color!!)

I have done this with most of my Independant ships for AW (still need to do the Gavroche I got this weekend). They came out really nice and the yellow base really enhances the yellow firing arcs.

I haven't got a chance to do any up yet but I did find a 20 pack of different Sharpies that I picked up for this very reason.

So tried the Sharpie route... not impressed. It's way to "streaky". I'm thinking I might pick up some Krylon and shoot the under sides and see how that goes.

I have to admit, after seeing the ones sharpied in the post earlier, I dont think I'll go that route. Not really a fan of bright colored bases on a nice star map...
