While this group had no stellar winners, there were six songs I liked and would listen to again. Of those six, I would almost never turn off a song by Iggy, the Ventures or Depeche Mode, so there are three songs in there that were nice and new (in a sense anyway) for my ear taste buds to enjoy.
Iggy Pop Not great Iggy, but better than a lot of other tunes that have been on rock radio. Speaking of which, I have only ever heard one Iggy Pop song on mainstream radio. WTF is up with that? Is Iggy not classic rock enough?
The Ventures Surf music/Surf guitar is otherworldly when played just right. This is heavenly.
Edward Sharpe This works well and the vocals are arranged nicely with the rhythm parts. Too much whistling though, this isnt Ennio Morricone writing for a spaghetti western.
Roger Waters Sounds almost like a mix of Floyd with touches of Gabriel thrown in. Not as good as either of those, but definitely stands on its own merit.
Philip Phillips Nice and clear. Good message, with a steady flowing rhythm.
Depeche Mode Usually one of my favorite bands doing songs like this and it is good, just not DM good. Still, its one of the six songs I enjoyed from here,
Jethro Tull One of the worst songs from them. They make a phenomenal album like Aqualung and then do this. Please lads. No more songs like this.
LCD Soundsystem Yeah. Not for me. Give me old school Thomas Dolby or Howard Jones.
1- Iggy Pop: There is almost a sub-genre of music called "Home", all songs about missing home, wanting to be there. Well dang, Iggy's there and having a party! Love It!
2- Roger Waters: Reminds me of lots of good things. Can't necessarily put my finger on them, but I enjoy the result.
3- Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros: Well this is a pleasant surprise. Minimalistic, upbeat, I really like it. Not fabulous, but pretty darned good.
4- Jethro Tull: This one is perplexing. Not a horrible song, but it feels more like an interlude piece of a larger movement. Very much not typical of Jethro Tull, but I'm going to have to listen to this album, and see how it fits in.
5- Philip Phillips: Great song selection for a very average voice. Pleasant enough.
6- The Ventures: I guess I'm just not in the mood for this tonight. OK, but nothing special for now. On a different day, I'm sure i would enjoy it more.
7- Depeche Mode: Didn't really do anything; just a pretty ditty.
8- LCD Soundsystem: Yawn.
..........Philip Phillips - I thought this was just an ok song. I've never heard of this guy and he has more than 30 million views. I'm outta touch!.............
I think he was an American Idol winner, so being out of touch with it may actually be a badge of honor!!

I believe I used that one in a different Same Name a while back.

However, this may be the last one for a while as I ruined my good laptop and I'm too broke right now to fix anything right now.
