My question is about WOL Black Lantern Reanimate #008's trait. It reads:

Black Reanimate When a friendly character with the Black Lantern Corps keyword KO's an opposing character with an attack, you may place a #008 Black Lantern Reanimate on click #2 in it's square and add it to your force.

My judge says that I need to have already had someone with this trait on the board in order to use this trait. Is this true or can I just place the figure on the board as described in the trait?

Yes he has be on the map/board for that to work. If something that can be played off the map, it will say so

But it says "add it to your force", which to me, means that it comes from outside the map.

You have to have a Reanimate on the board and then after you KO an opponents figure you can bring in another reanimate.

Well, that stinks. I'm never going to be able to do this then. I only have the one.

thats seems like a wrong answer. I know all our locals ruled it the other way.

Now is you look at the Tanuris from FI, he has a trait that is a thor is not on click #1, you can switch them out on the same click. The Thor LE from the set does not have a similiar power. So if he comes in from outside the game for meeting the requirements, why wouldnt reanimates, they requirements are met, BL kills someone, they come in

The reason it doesn't work is the ability they have doesn't have the stipulation that it works while they are not on he map.

Your locals may have ruled it the other way, but it is an incorrect ruling.

If you look at Tanarus exact text it states " THERE IS NO THOR ONLY TANARUS: If a friendly character named Thor of equal or higher points is not on its starting click, you may give that character a power action and replace it with Tanarus the same number of clicks from his starting line. This trait can be used when Tanarus is not on the map."

If the reanimates had the it can be used while not on the map then it would work.

You will need to have more than one reanimate to make this work.

This is what it would say if it could be used while it's off the map. Tanarus has the closest thing to what you're looking for.

I would agree with you because the card doesn't say it can't be used when the figure is not on the map.

Figures who are not "on the map" have no impact on the game, unless they have text that allows them to use an ability when they are off the map, IE Tanarus.

If you do not have a Reanimate on the map, you cannot activate its trait when you KO an opponents figure with someone that has the Black Lantern Corp keyword.

just gonna post this. direct from the rules team; you need a reanimate on the map for the trait to take effect.

The instant I saw the thread title I knew what the question would be. The key takeaway from this is:

WK's QC does not exist

It'd be nice if they went back and fixed it so it's a standard trait on all BL figures. The it'd be comic accurate

Hey, man, low quality is still quality. Besides, that's been a rule for quite a long time. Really, they need to expand the rulebook (or at least offer an "Advanced" version for download) to include a lot of rules that have only ever appeared either in forum rulings or in the Player's Guide.

I have a question. When this rule comes into play do I have to the reanimate BL points when building my team in the beginning since they won't be on the map? If this is worked weird I apologize since I'm trying to find the right words.
