If you mind control someone that is possessed, can you use the free action to use the ability that other player chose. ex: you mind control someone that has been possessed by ophidian, and they choose pulse wave. Can you then use pulse wave?
Similar question, if you mind control a vehicle that has a pilot, can you use the piloted abilities?
I just wanted to get a clarification on this. I know back in the day, when feats were a thing, the deal was that if you mind controlled someone, it was just the character, how they were... Meaning you couldn't use their feats, and also the feats didn't add to their point value for purposes of determining how much damage you took from using mind control.
I recently heard a player, who I trust on keeping up with the rules say that this is also true in a modern sense with mind control in that you still just use the character, you don't benefit from any resources that they're normally able to use. So, this is true also with entity possessions? Are you not able to use the entity's they're possessed by?
Could someone quote where this stems from in the rule book / players guide? I wouldn't be sure where to look, otherwise I'd find it myself.

Well, I thought that at least the thing about not being able to use feats during mind control used to actually be in official documentation. I just forgot where, which is why I wouldn't know where to look, I'd hope that they would have something solid to reference other than just saying "because I said so".

From the Player's Guide:
A character that is successfully hit by Mind Control can’t use any game elements assigned to it during force construction until the Mind Control action resolves.
So if it is assigned during force construction, it can't be used. Doesn't matter what exactly "it" is. In other words the ruling wasn't just pulled out of their heads. It is indeed in the documentation.

Forgive me for muddying the water further, but doesn't this imply that game effects NOT assigned during force construction CAN be used during a MC action?
Example: You pick up my Greithoth's Hammer relic (No book), I MC the wielder, can I use Charge?
There are several ways a player can bring a relic into the game from outside, like SLOSH giant Mordru and I believe Black Witch.
But here's a more relevant question:
What if a figure is possessed by an Entity which began the game at full points, then was KO'd and took them over? Assigned at force construction or not?
Like these rules need more hair splitting. Sorry.
Thank you for submitting this question. We are considering the answer to this and will respond once we have determined a final answer.

It doesn't imply it. It outright states it

Ah, that's what I was looking for. Thanks Normalview.

No, but you can use the Running Shot (as well as +2 AV and Giant Size) that the Hammer grants.
But yes, as Norm said, you can use anything that was obtained after the game starts... Relics, Entities that started as characters, "When [event happens]" traits (eg. Arkham Origins figures that have better traits once a figure is KO'd), or even scenario items (eg. "capture the flag").
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
