Last night at my local venue, we had a golden age event. Dice were rolled, maps were chosen (Dr. Strange Sanctum) and BFCs were declared. One player threw down Skyscrapers which makes all Elevated terrain blocking. The map layout is such that half of it is level 2, and half is level 1. I ruled that A) shame on you for playing that BFC in this situation, and B) the figures must be placed in the first available spot. It turned out that it destroyed the player who used the BFC, but I thought it was a hilarious example of why old cards don't really work on new maps, and why BFCs should just be left in the past.

From the Player's Guide, Section 8, Page 8:

SKYSCRAPERS
This card can’t be played if any of the starting areas is made up exclusively of elevated terrain.

Thank you. That would make more sense. It was a 3rd round match between two 1-1 players, so it didn't matter that much anyway, but the more you know.

So are you going to retract your statement about the old cards not working?


I'll admit that several have gotten left behind when updated wordings would be needed, but only a handful.

I'll issue a formal apology to the old cards. May Malice never take it's wrath out upon me.
