1) I would assume that you would need a ticket for the convention to get into the convention.
2) There usually isn't unless something changes this year. Thought last year I do believe they had an ROC event. http://maxpoint.tcgplayer.com/herocl...gon-Con-140829 though I don't know if you need to qualify at an ROC event prior to that to play in the tournament.
3) I don't know, to me I think it would be a waste to get tickets just for that. Though that ROC event did have a pretty big prize money for heroclixs. Maybe find out what day they are doing the heroclix event and get a ticket just for that day? I've honestly never been this is mostly just from me using google honestly and experience with how other conventions seem to work.
I am wanting to plan on going to DragonCon this year to play heroclixs but I got some questions?
1. Do you need to buy tickets for DragonCon if all you want to do is play in the heroclix events?
2. Are there Heroclix sponsored events at DragonCon?
3. Anything special I should know if I just want to go to just play in heroclix events?
Thanks
#1 Yes. You need a badge to get into the gaming area.
#2 Wizkids hasn't sponsored Heroclix events at DC for some time. A great group of local judges have stepped up in their absence to bring HC events to DC, with many of them now being associated with ROC.
#3 Gaming itself isn't that big of a thing at Dragoncon, it is more of a media con, so if that is all you are going for, you should save your money. The gaming area is really more of a great place for a distraction as you wait for the con's main programming. Lately it seems that board gaming is the biggest draw in the gaming area, especially after 6PM. If you are looking for con level HC gaming in the Atlanta area, I would suggest you attend the big ROC event scheduled in October (I think).
Howdy Venom...I am responsible for all things Clix at DragonCon.
I am running events all weekend. I will be posting a schedule soon. On top of the fun events running all weekend I will be hosting a ROC SQ on Saturday.
According to official DC rules you must have a badge to enter into anything DC related. I, however, am a volunteer game coordinator and not part of security.
I will/do have prizes for all my events and, like every year, will be contacting WizKids in an attempt to garner prize support for all non-ROC events.
Hope to see you there!

This is important info!
Thanks for responding!

Alright, cool. Be careful about how far outside of the con you go. Getting shot is a very real danger in Atlanta.
A couple clix players last year had their car stolen and one of them was shot in the foot a couple blocks from the convention hall if I remember correctly.
I don't donate and I use adblock. I guess that makes me a thief?

If I remember the story correctly it was a non clix player who got shot
Origins 2015 Lotr/Hobbit event: First Place
Eternal Games: 2016 Regional Winner. 2016 Super Q Top 16. 2017 Super Q 5th place
And IIRC it was a lot further than a couple of blocks. Dragoncon is also much larger than a "convention hall".
Just to clear up the TLC trolling.
This.
Those folks were staying way outside of the con area and no one at the con was shot.
The convention area itself, which covers several blocks and 5 official hotels along with a number of overflow hotels in the area, is generally safe, with many, many people milling about at all hours, as well as a law enforcement presence.
As a long time clix player, who doesn't play in tournaments anymore, I can say, I love playing clix at DC. My buddy and I go every year to Dragoncon, and the main thing we do play some clix. The judges are super friendly and fun. Most of the players are really cool and laid back. We make lots of trades. We ask lots of question since we've not played in a tournament since the year before at DragonCon. We have a blast every year, and often play so many games we forget to eat.

Prize or no prize. If you're not having fun, whats the point?
