I just wanted to bounce this off some of the rules lawyers here and see what they thought.
If you have Ion possessing KC Flash and you were to select Outwit via the Possessed trait, would you be able to use this Outwit instead of the Outwit granted from his speed special power:
Quote
PATROLLING BOTH CITIES AT ONCE: The Flash can use Hypersonic Speed. When he does, you may remove a Speed token from this card and he may then make a second close combat attack or use Outwit as a free action during this move and then continue his movement.
The most relevant rule relating to this would be from the 2014 players' guide section 1, p. 3 under "Powers/Abilities"
Quote
"Game effects which grant the use or possession of another game effect have no effect if the recipient can already use the new effect."
To a lesser extent this might also apply from the same page

Powers and abilities which allow a character to use a standard power in an altered way are still considered to be standard powers for other game effects.
My ruling would be that he could not use the Outwit granted through Possessed since can already use Outwit, albeit in an unorthodox way, through his "Patrolling..." special power.
So as far as my understanding goes it is removing the Speed Token that grants him the use of Outwit, not having the power that COULD give him the use. So he could choose to obtain Outwit from Ion, so long as he had not removed a Speed Token prior to choosing that turn, which he couldn't anyway.
Now also important here is that the Speed Token Outwit is conditional, it allows the use as a free action during Hypersonic Speed. If he obtained Outwit prior to that he would not be able to use it during Hypersonic Speed.
good question: The only thing that makes me think he may be able to pick it up from the is that you have to removed a speed token to use that outwit. So No Token=No Outwit
But don't trust me for answers, ask Dragon while he's on this throne
The long answer is that he can't use OW on the dial UNTIL he pays a token to use it. It's similar to the TW Batman that can choose to use any attack power... he can't actively use any of them until he chooses it (for benefit or deficit) and the same ruling has been made on many characters that have "choose one" powers.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
I just want to note that he can always choose Outwit from Ion, even if he already has Outwit. He just could not USE Outwit from Ion if he can already use Outwit. That is a big difference.
Beyond that Burleigh was correct. He cannot use Outwit until he activates his power and removes a Speed Token to do so.
With that said if you take Outwit from Ion, use Outwit and then Remove the Speed Token it gets a little weird. Technically from everything I have ever been told is the dial takes priority. So I BELIEVE that means he would no longer be able to use Outwit via Ion, so what ever was Outwitted would turn back on AND he wouldn't be able to use Outwit via his power because he already used Outwit during his turn....
I'd need to double check that via WES Though.
====EDIT====
The following was submitted to WES:
I have a question about fl050 The Flash and having him possessed by wol062p Ion.
The Flash has the following Power:
PATROLLING BOTH CITIES AT ONCE: The Flash can use Hypersonic Speed. When he does, you may remove a Speed token from this card and he may then make a second close combat attack or use Outwit as a free action during this move and then continue his movement.
I believe that this power means he can only USE Outwit if I remove a Speed Token and choose to be able to USE Outwit.
Is that correct?
If so, at the beginning of my turn before removing a Speed Token for Patrolling Both Cities at Once, could I choose to USE Outwit from Ion?
If the answer is yes, then what happens if I choose Outwit from Ion and use Outwit targeting my opponent's figure and I then remove a Speed Token for Patrolling Both Cities at Once? Can I still choose Outwit for this Power? If I can and I do what happens? Does the Outwit from Ion go away and my opponent's power is no longer Countered? Could I use Outwit again via my Special Power?
Basically how would this interaction work?
Thank you.
