Not sure on the timing, but the ata says it activates when you reveal your force, not during force construction so you couldn't have a theme team with the hand ninjas in order to use the ata to begin with.

The ata says "before you reveal your force" so yeah, it's a theme team.
Worried about finding points on your team for a taxi? Not a problem with this guy and his ID card. 5 points nets you a 1 turn uber-taxi who is bumping Defenses along the way. What a pal, played at full or as the ID card.
Ignore my previous comment. I just realized that carrying would break the "not within 5 squares" clause on ID characters. So don't completely ignore it, but you can't carry the character who brought them in and it's only going to be a short trip. Still, a 1-shot TK that takes 2 actions might be worth 5 points.
I was just thinking about this today and was wondering if I was wrong since I didn't factor in the change to having to have a theme team before you could use an ata. But thanks I didn't even know they errata'd it.
This is an amazing support piece. In tournament I was able to use his tk to get everyone where I needed them to be and gain board control. Then with pushing him I could center him to maximize his prob control. Late dial he gains effectiveness in combat with Hypersonic and better damage. Love him and having his ID card makes him effective for 5 points when you need to move someone away to a healer quick!
Can he carry three figures that he doesn't share a keyword with? It seems as if the limiting factor is if they don't share a keyword then the normal combat symbols that can't be carried, can't be carried.
I'd say no given it's all one statement - "When he does, he may carry up to 3 friendly characters regardless of their combat symbols if they each share a keyword with him." Not that consistency reigns in Heroclix, but I would have expected it to read differently if your interpretation was right (i.e "Manifold can use the Carry ability and when he does, he may carry up to 3 friendly characters" with the caveat about ignoring symbols as a separate sentence like in the case of Gates).

I took it to mean that he can use Carry normally, OR use it to carry up to 3 friendlies regardless of symbol if they share keywords. Do I stand corrected?
Yes (unless WK rule otherwise): he can carry 1 figure with the standard symbol limitations applied if they don't have his keywords, or up to 3 figures with the same keyword as him irrespective of their symbols.
