Hey guys I'm just curious if people are using and having success with lots of 30 point drones. If so, are you pushing them to get to their second click with better powers? Just wanted to hear some opinions.
I've had good luck pairing them with Alkhema and multiple Ulton 1's. The only ones I go out of my way to push to click 2 is the Ultron 1's. The rest I keep on click 1 as long as possible for that sweet 3 square sidestep alkheema gives them

Despite having minimal stealthbusting, I did very well just by out-auctioning and ganging up on my opponent. Ultron 1 respawning them was very useful, and most of them have various strengths on click #2.
The only ones I always or almost always push to click 2 are Ultron-8 and Ultron-1.
The rest are dependent on the situation. Sidestep is a great power for early game positioning. If my opponent doesn't have alot of figs that can deal penetrating or over 3 damage I'm most likely not gonna push them cause that saves him a whole attack. If his damage is high enough that he's one-shotting them either way then I'm much more likely to push for the better stats/powers.
turn one, move action, move zero, take token
turn two, power action, climb into vehicle, pushing damage gets you to the "magic click" of 11 AV, 4 Damage, P/PB
A way that I learnt recently to push them on to their second click is to play on a map with "Open Air" orange terrain and just simply sidestep into the open air, after actions resolve take the 1 unavoidable and go back to your starting area. The map I was thinking of was Nox from War of Light but I think a couple of other maps have similar terrain.

Orange squares are Open Air squares. After actions resolve, if a character who can't use the flight ability occupies an Open Air square, deal them 1 unavoidable damage then that character's owner places them in their starting area. Non-held objects in Open Air squares are removed from the map.
Play a few of them on a themed team to get a decent map bonus but obviously doesn't work on any of them that have the flight ability.

With how good they are for cost, it's kinda tough to go wrong with Ultron Drones so far as I've seen. You'll play differently depending on whether your Drones are your whole force or effective additions though.
Ultron 8 Drones tend to be the standouts, but they're both easily-acquired as Uncommons, and generally very effective beatsticks/vehicle drivers.

Ultron 1 drone and 18.2 are a match made in heaven. I almost always push the drones to click 2 and hope to respond them. We usually play kill and survivor points though.

There is a lot of mileage in Ultron drones, especially with the ability for figures in that set to pump them up and recycle them. Doesn't hurt that choice of map is almost in the bag with that many themed figures.
Having said that, Living Lightning can completely ruin your day.
I had great luck in AoU sealed games with them, and I pushed them to click #2 asap. I was able to get a lot of mileage out of them the one time because I was able to get a 6 or 7 figure team with two drones on it, and it made a tough decision for someone to have to take time to deal with them, so in all cases, they just let them run around the map. The one guy becomes a giant with sidestep and plasticity, so he was carrying my other guys around. Great bargain for 30 points.
On the other hand, I haven't put all my drones together into a constructed team yet. That should be interesting, but pushing them is a tough call if they are all that you got.

That looks fun!
What did you play against? Did they have a lot of stealth?
