The fact that his Fire token does damage at the beginning of the opponent's turn means he's functionally always going to do at least +1 damage, except against invincible. For 80 points, I think he's got excellent damage potential.
great points, AlaskanX! I also want to throw out there that with 2 Targets Sunfire can pick and choose who gets the Fire Marker. 20 Defense vs ranged is clutch. Sculpt and Clix FX marker are very nice!

Even more than that he is the second cheapest 4 Damage piece, with range, in Modern. The cheapest, 75pt Worlds Finest, only has three clicks. The only other two (under/at 80) are 80pt Hulk and 65pt Wonder Man, both with a 0-range. Also only the new 90pt Magneto has a 4-Dam w/ range under 99 points. This could be very META... unless Magneto's ability to call in better ID cards somehow trumps Shiro.
Click #1 is a very important click in modern. That said, I don't see this version of Sunfire as 'Meta' but I do think this Sunfire has potential. I just don't see Sunfire team beating Mystics theme with Klarion/UXM Scarlet Witch or Klarion/Mary Marvel (or KC Spectre) . Then there is Nick Fury to worry about too. If you are looking for a meta Sunfire, the prime is it! That Sunfire has all the tools needed to beat the teams I just mentioned, and more. This Sunfire will struggle to hit a Superman with 20/21 defense where as prime Sunfire ignores pretty much all game effects when dealing damage.

This is the most power I've ever seen packed into 80 points. Also I didn't realized I'd pulled him the other day... I thought I'd pulled SR Sunfire at first glance (I was at work no time to look hard)... until I realized there WAS no SR Sunfire. I pulled THE CHASE :D :D :D
A very nice sculpt for regular sized figure! Also, pretty brutal damage potential for 80 points, especially if you get any opportunities to pull Black Lantern Firestorm's trick...which is also Freddy Freeman's trick? You know what, eff it, being able to use Steal Energy with Pulsewave is apparently just not considered OP anymore. =p On an actual note about play, being able to hit an Invincible figure and generally knock them onto regular reducers (runs of Invincible seem to be short) for the Burn marker to pierce is pretty nice. But then there's always some sucker you'll knock onto invincible, or yo-yos the power, or just has a stubborn 3-click run. Oh well, put the rest of your team to work!

Feb 2015: JL Trinity War has have given us the CSA, playable and together. Twice. ROCK ON!
REClixed: Justice for Dmitri Pushkin (your sacrifice will not be forgotten)! New generic Rocket Red @50-75 points while we're at it? Still no 19DV Defender? (WoS Groot doesn't count)
Power Girl AND Bust.
tons of fun to play. setting opponents on fire isn't a new trick for clix but the f/x marker makes it so much more satisfying. X-men TA helps keep him in the fight. All in all I'm super happy I pulled Shiro as my chase
You might not get a power from proteus but you get to bump all your stats by a +1. I'm playing an all AoA team tomorrow with that little addition. Using magneto to induct him into the x-men as i construct keeps a theam team if he ever lands on the field. And if sunfire is ko'd first I'll be shifting him to weapon x for a nasty bump.
