I just read this TPB, and it is splendiferous. Nick Spencer finds a great voice for the character, and although Spencer shoehorns in a ton of Marvel backstory, the pace never flags.
I'll second that recommendation. I haven't actually read the trade, but I've been collecting all the single issues, and Ant-Man has been a very solid and entertaining read. Nick Spencer is good at his job.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
I've always hated Scott in the comics, but God damn do I love Rudd. Did they retcon him into being in line with the movies (like they have Iron Man and such) or is he more along the lines of his movie counterpart? If it's anything like the film, I'll check it out. I really like Nick Spencer
Thorn, this Scott is a fun mixture of sarcasm, hopefulness and desperation. The through-line is his love for his daughter, and the ant stuff is not an end but the means to attempt being a decent dad. In other words, the voice is quite a bit like Rudd's. I've always thought of Scott as the Coy and Vance Duke of Ant-Men, but it actually works quite well to have an Ant-Man who cannot pull scientific miracles out of somewhere to save the day, a la Pym. Also, Lang has baggage, but not Ultron-level baggage.
