I have a quick question that I am sure must have come up, but I can't find anything about.
Playing a Team Base - do you purchase the ATA's for all of the assigned Team Base characters at start of game, or is it only the team base itself that is charged for the ATA?
Only the team base gets the ATA. The team members never get to use it.

Thanks for the answer. Is there a reason behind it? Prior ruling or something?
I'd just like to understand "why" behind it, and for the life of me my search-fu is very weak on both the WIN and this site. I get nothing for what I type in for searches on this topic.
Could a team member use the ATA if it was a Wild Card?
As long as it isn't uncopyable.

When building your team, the team base is the character not the individual team members. The team base is the only one you could assign the ATA at force construction.
I don't have a link to a ruling, but I remember this being how it was ruled before.

[E]TEAM COORDINATION When counting characters for a themed team do not count the team as a character, instead each team member counts as a character. If the team is part of a themed team, instead of normal themed team initiative bonuses, it grants a +1 bonus to the initiative roll for every 100 points of its point value, or fraction thereof. At the beginning of the game when a team is part of a themed team, choose: Themed Team Probability Control can be used normally or it can’t be used and the team can use Probability Control.
To me, that looks like it just means when you count how many characters are on your team. Instead of the team counting as one character it counts for however many team members you have attached.

That is *exactly* why I was asking. I read that and wondered if an ATA would have to be paid for by the TB AND each assigned character, or not.
It's specifically a theme-team effect, so I wondered if how it interacts with other theme-team elements (like ATA's, etc). It would seem odd to include them as a theme team, and then exclude them for another effect that is theme dependent and compels a cost from the player when building their force. Ie: if you have the keyword and qualify, then you MUST also pay for the ATA if/when using ATA's.
So for the purposes of "purchasing" an ATA, the team (base) and not the figures on it are counted.
Which means a team base, as a single figure, can never be a themed team (named or generic). You'll need to get a Moloid or something to make the Zombies base a themed team (others will need ... others, obviously).

A single team base can be a themed team. It says so right in the rule you quoted. You only purchase the ATA for the team base itself, but it can count as 3 to 5 characters when counting characters for themed team.
That's why the Zombies team base always has probability control.

Got it, thanks - I've not played a team base (yet), have a small collection of them.
So it's a themed team, you purchase any qualifying ATA for the base, but if you count the team members as characters, then ... it gets pricey, quickly. Interesting.

To be clear, there is no "if" involved. You cannot purchase the ATA for the members on the base at all.
