Like I'm sure most venues did, we ran a Civil War themed event. I leaned a bit to the movie side of things, going with the movie's lineup of characters.
Could go with any set up here, and I think any Judge would love to hear story behing why a character might go one way or the other. How might the Justice League or Hellboy side on the Sokovia Accords?
I think the point total was a little high. I think 400 or 500 would have been better, dealing with 2 teams. Pretty sure no one remembered the Team's abilities... that can happen unfortunately. To be honest, I had even forgotten that extra rule!
Origins is coming up, and there are a number of Constructed Side Events planned.
If you're planning on going to Origins for these events, I'd keep an eye on that link, as they've been answering a lot of questions about builds.

Description: Players build a 500-point Golden Age Constructed team. During the game, no character can make range attacks and can’t target or use any game effect on characters, squares, terrain, or objects more than one square away from themselves. You may not include any non-character game elements except standard objects on your force and all starting force game elements you use (not including Sideline) must be able to begin the game on the map.
Looks like some fun events! The Golden Age Brawl would be a lot of fun. I've done variations of this before, and it's a pretty good time. It would be a good callback to the old days where everything is on the map, so some of you old school players should be loving this! I've used tokens to rope off a WWE ring in the middle of the map, and make two figures fight in the ring, and when KO'ed, the next one comes in. Sort of like a traditional Survivor Series match.

Power Outage might be interesting. I think it could be more of a pain than it's worth, trying to keep track of what is and isn't "out". I'd be looking at characters with as few powers as possible and rely on the numbers game as much as I can. Not so easy with the full dials we get right now!

Protect the boss, around here, it's called "Captain's Fall", from the WWE styled match. I usually do it either as highest or lowest point figure on the team.
That's it for this edition, let's hear what you did for Civil War at your venue. Next time we'll go down the rabbit hole! Until then, get out there and Cause a Scene-ario
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing
