FYI – These guys are talking about YOU at the Championships
Hey kids! Captkool of The Four Points Gaming Club here. Let’s talk about the Zombie Elephant in the room: The Marvel Zombies Teambase. As of June 1st, WK has made the truly wise decision of allowing the Zombies to escape retirement for not only ROC states but the Nationals/Worlds Championships as well...while simultaneously retiring all the checks/balances of the ZTB that limit free actions (Green Lantern Battery/Agent 13/White Witch). The mere possibility of these counters prevented the zombies from infecting nearly every championship since their inception. So if you can’t GIMME YOUR T.O.T.s (Tier One Teams) to stop them…..well, if you can’t beat them it’s time to start biting your opponent’s face off and join them. I need real life counters to this beast, Realmsers! My personal spin on the ZTB = 295 pt ZTB and Shield Level 7 ID card. #ZTBWins #Don’tArgue #ZTBWins
The purpose of this article is two-fold: I need you to help me improve the ZTB team by finding the ideal ID card match up and map choice for the Zombies and to help me find what consistently brings down the ZTB.

WHY IT’S GOOD: +3 initiative theme team, Working Together, 15 clicks of life, Built in PC on the Team base, Cannibalize, Zombie Miasma, Virus/Food Tokens (which keep the Zombies from dying and add your figs to their force when KOed) and the freaking Super Skrull and Red Skull. Enough yet???? Forget that it’s the equivalent of a 500 pt team in a 300 pt format!
Mole Man in Slot 1 let’s you solo adventure two zombies – ex. Super Skrull (experienced) and another Red Skull (I like the leadership as if 300pts option). That same turn ZSS picks some absurd combination of awesomeness (that almost ALWAYS includes Invincible, Pulse Wave, Running shot and Probability Control) and does some serious damage to your team (gaining multiple Food tokens if multi targeted PW) …..leaving the rest to survive the onslaught. Red Skull can follow up with an attack that same turn or hide behind the teambase to roll some leadership rolls (remember ZTB is 295 and Skull acts like 300).
Not to mention - CANNIBALIZE: Once per turn, when Zombies are hit by an attack, you may remove a character from this base to ignore that attack. You may use this ability to have less than 3 characters on this base, minimum 1. This power can't be countered.
So you can have 1 FIGURE on the team base and it’s still gold. You have to get through at least THREE damaging attacks of doing zero damage to the team base before you can start to finish it off.
In the meantime, while the ZTB is MAYBE being weakened but still alive….the teambase itself can forgo Working Together and at an opportune time Call in Help using an ID card…..say some 295 beastly character that tears up the remainder of your team. 250 pt Hulk for example….or 120pt nick Fury which even Red Skull can bring in.
Weaknesses – #1 Alpha strike against it hitting onto it’s rookie dial. At the very least then you have the solo adventurers coming out at their yellow dials. (though you still gotta get past shape change and Invuln and 4 clicks of life.)
#2 - don't forget you CAN outwit the ZTB.
ZTB vs ZTB … the experienced teambase player will win out. ZTB versus anything else….this is like placing a bazooka in your hands and telling you to hit a building size target that’s 5 feet in front of you. Point and Shoot. The only thing you have to remember is pop off your solo adventurers if you even have an inkling your opponent will alpha strike you (and ALWAYS choose Invincible on Super Skrull).
Map Choice???? They ignore elevated for movement and need some cover so they can move out…then follow up the next turn moving out and solo adventuring. Go ahead, playtest it. Say you’ve NEVER played it before…you’ll still likely sweep against non ZTB teams. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for a ROC States update and an accounting of how many ZTBs won their state.
The take away - maybe there's something out there that can consistently beat the ZTB...but your choice to play the ZTB, in general, puts you at an advantage over your opponent from turn 1 and that is never a bad thing.

Well balanced team 9/10 and as someone already said, Quinjet teams.
Don't forget about Ice-man and figs alike.
Lastly, Black Panther at 45pts gives them issues for a turn or 2.
Also, ZTB can pop off 3 with MoleMan not just 2. Red Skull has 0 range.
WHY is this front page? feels like someone is just taking advantage of their "permissions".
Doesn't not having the Base as a full 300 eliminate one of the free actions you get from Working Together? I remember that the New Mutants TB got screwed after the nerf to TB's in general.
My kitten has defeated more heroclix figures than Galactus ever will. His paw is strong!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the character calling in help with the SHIELD Level 7 card not require the SHIELD keyword to use it?
The SHIELD ID cards are the only ones that specify a keyword prerequisite (this is outside of the keyword prereq for the ID character on the sideline).
