Here are the sales numbers for DC for June. This month, I'm leaving in issue numbers, so it's more clear which comics are #1 and which are continued from a previous series.
2 Batman 1* 280,360
3 Batman Rebirth 1* 199,807
Beaten by Civil War II, Batman and Batman are still some of DC's highest sellers. The sales bump is significant this month, as previously Batman was selling at slightly over 100,000.
6 Dark Knight III Master Race 139,919
7 Dark Knight Returns The Last Crusade 122,305
And after Batman and Batman, we have Batman and Batman filling out the next few slots in the sales chart.
Last month, DC had two books selling over 100k. This month, they have eight. These sales levels are huge increases over what the books had previously been selling. Of course, some of this is "new #1" syndrome as well as "big event" syndrome, possibly mixed in with "decent writing".
Not much to say, everything is selling like crazy. Even Green Arrow Rebirth is over 80k when the normal Green Arrow comic previously struggled to stay slightly above 20k.
Action also seems to have reverted to a previous numbering system which doesn't seem to have hurt it. In fact, the higher numbered issue (#958) sells slightly better than the previous issue. Again, huge sales increases everywhere.
29 Justice League 52 72,413
30 Titans Rebirth 1 72,086
32 Justice League 51 70,059
One of the last remnants of the new52, Justice League loses about 20k sales after gaining about that much in the previous month.
33 Green Arrow 1 69,833
Again, Green Arrow doesn't usually sell this well.
Wacky Raceland doesn't seem to be selling as well as the other Hanna Barbera revivals, at least on the first issue. It is beating the other second issue sales levels though.
74 Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys 3 34,009
82 Scooby Apocalypse 2 29,812
94 New Suicide Squad 21 23,887
99 Poison Ivy Cycle of Life and Death 6 21,806
100 Robin Son of Batman 13 21,658
101 Deathstroke 19 21,094
103 Grayson Annual 3 20,972
104 Adventures of Supergirl 3 20,741
107 Superman The Coming of the Supermen 5 20,416
-------20k cancellation line--------------
113 Teen Titans 21 18,766
116 DC Comics Bombshells 14 18,492
117 Green Lantern Corps Edge of Oblivion 6 18,459
120 Deathstroke Annual 2 18,254
126 Swamp Thing 6 17,778
128 Earth 2 Society 13 17,430
133 Teen Titans Annual 2 16,624
136 Red Hood Arsenal 13 16,389
142 Legend of Wonder Woman 7 15,820
144 Constantine The Hellblazer 13 15,697

160 Adventures of Supergirl 4 13,454
163 Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five 12 13,318
166 Batman Beyond 13 13,025
171 Suicide Squad Most Wanted Deadshot Katana 6 12,584
173 Cyborg 12 12,411
179 Black Canary 12 12,046
190 Lucifer 7 10,382
---------10k sales line----------------
198 Astro City 36 9,960
203 Legends of Tomorrow 4 9,677
210 Teen Titans Go 16 9,324
215 Doctor Fate 13 9,067
247 Bloodlines 3 7,371
277 Clean Room 9 6,335
278 Batman Europa Directors Cut 1 6,327
296 Sheriff of Babylon 7 5,714
Not much to say this month. Naturally, with Rebirth, sales are high pretty much across the board. The real proof will be how these books are selling in a year's time, or a year after that.
1 Justice League #1 209,187
2 Justice League Rebirth #1 177,638
3 Batman #2 177,105
5 Batman #3 168,939
6 Nightwing Rebirth #1 127,846
So, here we have three more "number one" issues along with two issues of Batman. And while sales are great, Batman (last month's top-selling DC book) has dropped by 110k sales from issue #1 to #3. So, obviously these crazy-high sales levels won't last forever.
And notice, as usual, the top books are Batman and Justice League.
8 New Super Man #1 117,684
9 Nightwing #1 114,787
10 Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps Rebirth #1 113,965
11 Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #1 108,708
12 Wonder Woman #2 103,759
13 Flash #2 103,308
14 Titans #1 102,433
15 Superman #2 101,953
16 Detective Comics #936 100,626
There's not much to say about all these new "number ones". Wonder Woman has only lost 4k sales since last month, while Superman has lost over 3k. Detective has actually gone up by 6k and Flash has gone up by 3k.
And these are all of DC's books selling over 100k... which is still a lot (14 books), certainly more than before Rebirth (2 books).
Superman loses another 4k (after losing 3k just earlier). Flash loses another 6k (after gaining 3k just earlier). Wonder Woman loses 9k after losing 4k just earlier.
24 Red Hood and the Outlaws Rebirth #1 88,838
27 Action Comics #959 83,337
28 Green Lanterns #2 82,062
29 Green Lanterns #3 78,708
Action actually continues to gain sales, gaining 8k. Green Lanterns loses 7k from #1 to #3.
115 Superman The Coming of the Supermen #6 20,069
120 Teen Titans #22 19,005
122 Dark Knight III Master Race #5 18,525
126 Batman Beyond #14 18,001
127 Wacky Raceland #2 18,001
128 DC Comics Bombshells #15 17,956
Things not related to Rebirth seem to not be doing so well.
135 Earth 2 Society #14 16,960
145 Legend of Wonder Woman #8 15,945
161 Batman '66 Meets Steed And Mrs Peel #1 13,921
163 Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five #13 13,590
166 Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five #14 13,418
182 Adventures of Supergirl #5 11,573
186 Adventures of Supergirl #6 10,982

229 Scooby Doo Team Up #17 7,892
255 Bloodlines #4 6,282
260 Clean Room #10 6,069
271 Sheriff of Babylon #8 5,680

I havent picked up my books from the store in a while (a good few months) and it has been at least a year since I read any of them.
Is the nu52 dead?...are my subscriptions done?...do I need to cancel them if I dont want to reboot ("again")?
What should I know before I head into the store this weekend?

Rebirth is less like a reboot than was the New 52. It is supposed to be like a mesh of the New 52 and the DCU that came before it, with some titles meshing more than others. It is fair to say that DC's commitment to the rebooted New 52 is now watered-down quite a bit.
DC Rebirth comes with a new re-shuffling of talent and relaunched titles.
Most of the relaunched titles also feature a one-shot Rebirth issue before the actual #1. Example: There was a Flash: Rebirth #1 (one-shot), which was followed up by the new Flash series, which had its own #1 issue. Yes, Flash #1 came out right after Flash: Rebirth #1.
Many of the titles have now lowered their price to $2.99. There are a couple of things to know about those: The ones that are now $2.99 have reduced the page-count of the titles from 22 pages to 20 pages. Most of them now also come out twice a month.
Example:
- Wonder Woman (New 52): One issue/month at $3.99 for 22 pages
- Wonder Woman (Rebirth): Two issues/month @$2.99 each with 20 pages each ($5.98 for 40 pages of comics, which is a better price per page-count than before).
Yes, some of this I realize is very off-putting. Hold on. Don't make any rash decisions, yet.
- Some of these titles are actually pretty good.
- Old favorites, long-missing from the New 52, are gradually returning.
- Personally, I would recommend taking each of your subscribed titles on a case-by-case basis. Maybe the Rebirth has ruined some of them. It is also possible that it has saved a few of your titles. Heck, you might find that you are now interested in a few that didn't interest you before.
Also: I'd be wary about continuing to buy comics you aren't reading. For all you know, some of those subscribed titles may have taken a turn for the worse.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
Thanks for the breakdown. Last weekend was a long weekend, but I should get to the FLCS soon and sort through this all.
"A Jester unemployed is nobody's fool." - The Court Jester "And so he says, I don't like the cut of your jib, and I go, I says it's the only jib I got, baby!
1 Harley Quinn #1 359,957
2 All Star Batman #1 289,348
3 Suicide Squad #1 217,672
5 Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 177,806
DC continues to rebirth all over the place, with more #1 issues selling well over 100k.
6 Batman #4 152,985
7 Batman #5 142,142
And then, there's Batman. A slow steady drop of about 10k per issue, but still good sales.
8 Justice League #2 127,402
And the Justice League. Still doing well, but only in a reasonable way. It's still a lot better than the pre-Rebirth comic (selling about 70k) but it's still only at issue #2.
And Justice League's sales plummet by 17k. Again, still great sales, but probably not sustainable (issue #1 had over 200k sales, for comparison). Oh, and Supergirl doesn't usually sell this well, but much like the high sales on Suicide Squad, I expect it's due to other media.
Superman drops over 9k, then nearly 7k. Flash drops 9k from my previous paragraph. Detective drops 7.5k from my previous paragraph. Wonder Woman drops 9k from last month.
This is going to be a common refrain: sales are plummeting drastically. But things are still okay. Sales are still high, but they were previous *ridiculously* high and unsustainable. It will be interesting to see where things settle. For now, it's just meaningless chaos.
28 Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #2 77,972
29 Wonder Woman #5 77,860
30 Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #1 75,892
33 Blue Beetle Rebirth #1 72,993
34 Titans #2 72,799
35 New Super Man #2 72,522
Wonder Woman drops 7.5k from my previous paragraph. Hal Jordan drops 36k! Wow! But it's still doing fine. Titans drops 30k! Wow! But it's still doing fine.
36 Action Comics #961 71,821
37 Green Lanterns #4 71,140
40 Green Arrow #4 67,577
42 Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #3 64,737
43 Action Comics #962 64,328
44 Green Lanterns #5 64,252
45 Green Arrow #5 63,209
Action drops about 4k, then drops another 6.5k. And it's still doing fine.
Green Lanterns drop 7.5k, then drops another 7k. But it's still doing fine.
Green Arrow drops over 5k, then drops over 3k. But it's still doing fine.
Hal Jordan drops about 13k. But it's still doing fine (though these drops seem some of the largest for this month).
HA! I must be a sucker for lost causes. I bought 4 of the 7 titles that are below the "What Are You Thinking?" line.
That said, the lowest-selling one, Sheriff of Babylon is a remarkable title. It will probably sell much better in trade paperback, probably better than most of the titles above it on this list, because I can see it appealing to a literary bookstore crowd.
EDIT:
Also, on the subject of titles that really deserve a greater audience, The Flintstones is absolutely comic book gold.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
Six Pack and Dog Welder has a really strange cover. Is the book any good?
I got the previous Six-Pack mini-series, and though I enjoyed it, I didn't really think I needed any more, so I haven't been buying the Dog Welder one. I imagine it's the same over-the-top, as crude as you can get within the confines of the DCU, style of humor. If one enjoys his humor, it is probably pretty fun. As for me, I like it, but I don't love it, so one mini-series was enough.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
1 Batman #6 138,853
2 All Star Batman #2 137,748
3 Batman #7 135,585
5 Justice League #4 94,548
7 Trinity #1 93,797
8 Supergirl #1 90,247
9 Suicide Squad #2 89,575
10 Justice League #5 89,342
DC has 8 of the top 10 books. Batman drops 4k, then 3k, and none of the new books exceed Batman's sales level. Justice League drops 16k, then 5k. Suicide Squad drops a ridiculously huge amount, 127k!
Detective Comics rises 1.5k then drops 2k. Flash drops 500 sales, then drops another 5k. Suicide Squad drops another 7k, but that's not much compared to the earlier drop of 127k. Harley Quinn drops a huge 35k.
Nightwing loses 17k but then gains nearly 6k. Titans drops 8k. Action drops 3.5k, then drops nearly 2.5k. Green Lanterns drops 6k then another 3k.
39 Deathstroke #2 55,343
40 Green Arrow #6 55,330
41 Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #4 54,815
43 Green Arrow #7 52,794
44 Blue Beetle #1 52,231
46 Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #5 50,935
48 Superwoman #2 50,436
50 Red Hood and the Outlaws #2 49,943
51 Deathstroke #3 49,916
Deathstroke drops over 28k, then over 5k. Green Arrow drops 8k, then about 2.5k. Hal Jordan drops 10k then another 4k.
52 Aquaman #6 49,903
53 Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #2 49,166
58 Aquaman #7 47,005
59 Batgirl #3 46,891
67 New Super Man #3 41,796
68 Hellblazer #2 40,749
Aquaman drops 5k then another 3k. This is the last we'll see of DC comics until we get down to much lower sales levels, going from 40+ thousand down to 20+ thousand.
87 Raven #1 28,374
89 Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys #6 27,922

I know that quality is subjective and not something that can be accurately reflected by numbers like these. Nonetheless, when I see that 140 different comics sold better than Flintstones #3, I can't help but cringe. I highly suspect that at least 100 of those comics are not as good as Flintstones #3.
