Please Read (the usual disclaimers):
* These figures are normally compared only within this set, only
for sealed play at 300 points. 400 points is standard in many areas, but there's little reason to change from the standard; when you increase the build total, almost every figure becomes better. If you're playing at 400 points feel free to mentally rate the figures 1 shield higher.
* There are only a few 1 or 4 ratings, based on their sealed play strength. So even though your favorite character didn’t get 4 like you think it should, the ratings are only my recommendation. If you really like a fig, by all means play it.
* Everything written here is intended to be very broad in order to give a general idea of what may or may not work - These are not specific suggestions “you must play this!” These are just my recommendations, and the combination of figures on a team can drastically affect a specific fig’s overall effectiveness.
* Lastly, this review is just my opinion, and these are a lot of work to write - so I ask you very kindly, please don’t get angry at me for my ratings. I give reasonable explanations for each choice. If you disagree (and you are welcome to do so), please try to do the same.
I'll be using shields to rate the figures.
Designers missed the boat on this one, or the figure is unplayable in a 300 point format.
This figure is below average. There are figures that can do things better than this figure in the set at a cheaper cost or bring more utility and synergy to a team for the investment.
This is an average figure that stands a decent chance of earning its points back or adding value to a team.
An above average figure, this piece has combat abilities that will help it earn back its cost, or provide significant benefits to a team.
An outstanding dial for the cost or effectiveness it brings, a great figure to have on your team or to build a team around!
It's mentioned above, but it bears repeating - these reviews are based on a 300 point build.
Any figure can be great backed up with enough support. It's fine if you want to disagree with the rating, I encourage talking about how good a figure did for you - just be sure to clarify the circumstances behind your victory. What was your build total? What booster expansions were used? How many people showed up at your venue? It's not saying much if you pop on and tell us you went undefeated with a figure, leaving out that you only faced one opponent or played at a 600 point level.
Also, keep in mind that some figures might get a combat value modifier when near another named figure. For figures like this, consider rating them one higher if you pull the corresponding piece that grants an amazing synergy bonus.
General Note:
For the Shifting Focus Deadpools, I will be reviewing them assuming that you only pulled the one. If you pull more than one, feel free to give them extra consideration than if you just pulled one.
Hey, Kiddies! It’s your old pal, Deapool! Jaysol wanted to give you his review of my newest set, but I couldn’t let him have the spotlight alone…It’s MY set after all! My fingerprints are going to be all over this thing worse than a fat kid with Cheetoh fingers! Anytime you see the red type, it’s me telling you what I think about the piece or giving you a little bit of insight on it. It’s like legendary Motown group “The Spinners” sing…Whenever you call me, I’ll be there. Whenever you WANT me, I’ll be there! Whenever you NEED me, I’ll be there! I’ll be Aroooooooooooound!!!!!!!

Targeting: █ Shifting Focus: Deadpool: Give Deadpool a free action if he began your turn on the map. Replace him with another character with this trait on the same click number. Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang!: When Deadpool hits one or more opposing characters with a range attack, put a BANG! token on this card. Once per turn, you may remove a BANG! token to reroll Deadpool's attack roll.
This Deadpool is a very decent attacker for the points. Ignoring Stealth is important in this set with all the Stealth, and his pseudo-Probability Control is useful in sealed, if only to make sure that he hits.
Hey, cool! Another me! (This one is the SHOOTY one). Too bad I left my Sheep Gun back in my last set or else I would have loved to have had the chance to fire up that old thing again! I’m so happy to have a shifting focus mechanic in this set, though. If there’s ANYTHING that I can do and do well, it’s shift focus. SQUIRREL! (Wow, there ARE a lot of Squirrel things in this set, aren’t there?!)
X-Force: Domino can use Stealth. BAD LUCK LADY: Domino can use Probability Control. When an opposing character re-rolls an attack targeting Domino, immediately modify the attacker's attack and damage by -1.
Domino's raw stats and powers may make her look like an average at best piece, but her traits are where it's at. Her two traits make her much better and incredibly difficult to hit. The traited Stealth, combos well with her Combat Reflexes. Her traited Probability Control will both help the rest of your force and help keep Domino safe. The Probability Control also works very well with her late dial Blades/Claws/Fangs to hit for more, and to reroll her Regeneration rolls to keep her alive. It is also worth noting that the Rules Forum ruled that her trait's modifiers will trigger each time the attack roll is rerolled. This is not exclusive to Probability Control, as there may be effects like 017 Deadpool who has a rerolling trait that is not Probabiility Control. This also includes you forcing your opponent to reroll with your own effects, such as Domino's own Probability. Domino will be incredibly difficult to hit, and even when she is hit, her trait will decrease the damage that she will be taking (outside of the opposing character using Blades/Claws/Fangs.
I always have such mixed feelings when it comes to this one right here. I have Vanessa to thank for that. I love to hate to love to hate her, and even I can’t follow that logic. Is that her working her probability voodoo on my head? It’s all bats and belfries up there ALREADY, lady. I don’t NEED any more confusion!

Mutation Enhancement: UNIQUE MODIFIER - When an adjacent friendly character hits, if its attack value is higher than its printed value, increase the damage dealt to one hit target by 1. Late Redemption: Dr. Killbrew can use Perplex, but only to increase combat values. Dr. Killbrew can use Support. When he does, replace his attack value with his target's attack value.
Dr. Killebrew may be a support piece exclusively, with his 0 damage, but he can be very effective at it. His cheap Outwit and Stealth for protection is worth the points, and he has the potential to help out friendly character's damage output as well, with his Mutation Enhancement special power. The only issue with the power is that Perplex is hard to find in this set. Killebrew himself is the easiest to find source, on his end dial. Outside of characters with Ranged Combat Expert, it will be difficult to pull off the modifier without pushing Killebrew twice, but the Outwit is still worth it. Feel free to give him more consideration if you pull something that can take full advantage of his potential.
I certainly want to kill a brew every time I think about what this guy put me through. All the torture, experiments, and worst of all he brought Mr. Fanny into my life. He TRIED to redeem himself by sacrificing himself in my final fight with Buttacolypse, but it was too little too late. I wish I could resurrect this monster and kill him again myself, but until the zombie apocalypse happens, I’ll just have to be happy with rubbing my butt on his grave.

Killer of Killers: When Hit-Monkey makes a range attack targeting a character that can use Precision Strike, modify his attack and damage values by +1. Monkey On The Move!: Hit-Monkey can use Running Shot, Sidestep, and Stealth.
Hit-Monkey is a very cheap, mobile attacker that will be able to get bonuses from the fair amount of characters with Precision Strike in this set. His late dial Regeneration with an 18 should help keep him alive longer than he deserves to for the point investment.
The Barenaked Ladies once dared to ask the question…”Haven’t you always wanted a Monkey?” in their song If I had a Million Dollars…I can’t IMAGINE that they ever could have foreseen this, though! This little ball of murder DOES look cute, though…he might actually make a great pet if he weren’t constantly plotting ways to kill me in my sleep!

Mercs for Money: Each time another friendly character with the Heroes for Hire keyword KO's an opposing character, heal Slapstick 1 click. Giant Hammer: Slapstick can use Giant Reach 2. I've Got A Bad Case of Mallet-osis: When an opposing character takes damage from Slapstick's attack, after actions resolve the hit character cannot move during it's next turn and is immediately given an action token.
Slapstick's wacky dial will keep your opponent guessing what he'll have after taking damage or healing. Between his Regeneration and Mercs for Money trait, he should stay alive a while. With all the Heroes for Hire in this set, you should be able to have Slapstick do a lot of healing. Otherwise, he is very average, although the Giant Reach: 2 and Mallet-osis will help make up for that a little.
Slapstick: You know that old saying about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer? Yeah, how do you know where to keep the people who you work with that scare the ever living crap out of you? On the surface he’s all playful and full of cartoony joy, but I’ve seen the kinds of things he does and the look he has in his eyes when he’s going to work. It’s…it’s just unsettling…and you KNOW I’ve seen some horrors before. I used to pal around with BULLSEYE for crying out loud! I’d rather be in the middle of a Bullseye and Typhoid Mary sandwich than have to do a team-up with this psycho!

Again, this is the same dial as the a-side, just with a different trait and the addition of the Deadpool Corps keyword. This version may be a little worse than the other one, as if he heals using his trait, the click that he will end up on, click 4, isn't great, with 15 defense.
He…He’s standing right behind me isn’t he? I WARNED WizKids not to put more than one of this guy in the set, and now he’s standing right the hell behind me! I like this version of Solo a little less than the a-variant, as his version of healing, like Slapstick, also leaves him on a click that isn't the best, that being his 9-Attack click. Although the addition of the Deadpool Corps keyword should also help him team up with more options than the a-variant.
I don’t get it. Your name is SOLO and you’re trying to join a TEAM? What should we call ourselves, the LONE RANGERS? Who pluralizes Lone Ranger?..and for that matter, why did they make Lone Ranger Clicks? Those were GODAWFUL. They looked bad, had bad dials, and had a horrible distribution model…mmmmm…supermodels…They look so pretty in those little wings in those Victioria’s Secret runway shows…oh…where was I? Yeah, come on…you’re in. You can join the team…the comedy payoff is going to be GREAT when I tell you about your teammate named “Terror!”

Mercs For Money: Each time another friendly character with the Heroes for Hire keyword KO's an opposing character, heal Stingray 1 click. If We're Going On An Aquatic Mission, We'll Need A Deep-Pool: Stingray modifies his defense value by +2 when occupying water terrain.
Stingray's taxi abilities and Outwit make him notable, although his range and attack values leave something to be desired. If you can use Stingray's keyword options to ensure map roll to get him on a map with a lot of water, I'd give him extra consideration.
Cool! I always thought that the Power Rangers Aquitar were kind of underrated. Now I have the Red Aquitar ranger on my very own team! He goes deeper than any other ranger out there! Aurico here has some nice tricks up his gills, but he kind of flops around when he’s out of water. You just can’t go too deep if you’re all floppy like that.

Unlike the other Mercs for Money a/b dials, I prefer the a, although this Stingray is decent fodder to KO to heal another Deadpool/Merc.
So, is that what I’m supposed to call you then? Deep-Pool? That seems goofy even by my standards. I’m going to keep calling you Stingray, but let’s get you into something that looks a little bit less Power-Rangery…add a keyword to your repertoire…give you a few new weapons…yeah…that’ll do nicely...Maybe I’ll call you Flipper…would you like that, Flipper? Nibble!: Give Koi Boy a free action and choose an opposing character within 8 squares and line of fire that occupies water or hindering terrain. UNIQUE MODIFIER - Until your next turn, when the chosen character attempts to move, it must break away as if adjacent to Koi Boy and modifies its break away rolls by -1.
Koi Boy is only 10 points to either tie down an opposing character from range, or force them to position according to what you want them to do, as they won't want to place their characters in hindering terrain. Even if they succeed at the breakaway roll, Koi Boy is still only a 10 point investment, with reasonable combat stats.
Get a load of Barnacle Boy over here! What’s the matter, Nemo, Mermaid Man leave you high and dry? (I asked a fish if he was dry!!!) Guess you’ll just have to wait until the next DC set to see if we get another Aquaman for you to soak your fins with. In the meantime, you keep on being your badass 10 point self and you tie people up from range. I wonder how many Koi Boys I can keep in my Liefeld pouches? It might come in handy in a fight.

B.A.D. Girls, Inc: Diamondback can use Plasticity. When she successfully breaks away during a non-free action, after actions resolve heal her 1 click and deal 1 damage to each character she broke away from.
Diamondback is a good attacker for the points, although I don't like the combination of the top dial Energy Shield/Deflection to go with her Plasticity, but I suppose that it will protect Diamondback from being attacked at range by opposing characters that she isn't tying up. I also like that she has some range, to be able to make a ranged attack and then Sidestep for tie-up. Overall, a very good piece for the investment.
Oh, thank GAWD we are getting a new one of these. When I play with my little plastic toys, I love using the Serpent Society, and I just can’t bring myself to use the Captain America set one. This one doesn’t have the same powers as that one, really, but at least it’s competitive. I have a secret to confess, though. When I’m clixin’ it up, I pretend that I’m the secret member of the Serpent Society…behold the mighty TROUSER SNAKE!

Bio-E.M. Field: Opposing characters within range can't use the standard powers or combat value modifiers granted by equipped items.
Although there isn't any Equipment for Bedlam to shut down in this set's sealed environment, this dial is still okay for the points. with Incapacitate is disappointing, though.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m shaking in my boots. You don’t mess with a guy that chooses a codename like bed lamb. The terror that is one of nature’s most cuddly and fluffy critters mixed with the sheer horror that is evoked by the thought of a good ol’ four poster? Nah, I’m good. Bed lamb is just not somebody that I’m messing with. You go ahead. I’ll just keep poking Buttacolypse in the forehead while you deal with bed lamb. Call me when you have somebody less terrifying to fight.
X-Force: Fantomex can use Stealth. Reality Skewing and EVA: Fantomex can use Shape Change. Fantomex can use Probability Control but only while he is attacking.
Fantomex's Stealth and defenses, Probability Control for when he attacks, and combat values make him a great overall package. His top dial swing is very impressive, with a 6-Movement for his Running Shot and his range, with and Energy Explosion, to hit opposing Stealth characters with the splash.
Charlie and I have an understanding ‘cause we’ve been in more scrapes together than I can remember. I won’t call him a cheese-eating surrender monkey, and he won’t shove his obligatory baguette in my behindus. And you KNOW he has one too…I think they are distributed by the French government or something…just like that striped black and white shirt that you just KNOW is under that cool white leather trench coat and the beret that he keeps on the coat rack in E.V.A!

X-Force: Psylocke can use Stealth. MINDBLADE: When Psylocke makes a close attack and hits an opposing character that can use Incapacitate, Mind Control, Outwit, or Penetrating/Psychic Blast, roll a d6 that can't be re-rolled and increase Psylocke's damage value by half of the result.
Like Domino and Fantomex, Psylocke's Stealth and defenses make her quite difficult to hit. She also hits reasonably hard as well, although her later dial offenses are overall better than what she has top dial. Her trait does help, though, if you are able to point Psylocke towards the right target.

Movement: ● Never Corner a Cat: Feral can use Combat Reflexes and Super Senses.
Feral's dial is a grab bag of close combat options, with every click offering something good, with her Movement helping to get her where she wants to be. Her defenses are also good for the points, making her a threat that is not to be ignored.
Ooh! Kitty’s gots claws! They’re pretty sharp, too! Cable said I could keep her if I promised to clean her litter box regularly, feed and water her daily, and play with her to get her plenty of exercise. Naaaaaah…Nate didn’t actually say that, but could you imagine?! That would be one HUGE litter box! Maybe I can get Bob to do it all and I can work something out with Nate.

Betray Everyone I've Ever Known: Thornn can use Shape Change. Always Stalking My Prey: Thornn can use Sidestep. Give Thornn a free action if she is within 3 squares and line of fire of an opposing character and place her adjacent to that character. I'm Better Alone: If Thornn isn't within 2 squares of a friendly character, increase her Shape Change roll by 2.
Thornn is quite the mobile close attacker, and an annoying one to hit too. Her mid-dial super duper Shape Change should take your opponent by surprise, making them even more frustrated at trying to tag her.
Whew! Looks like I got the good one of the litter when I decided to take Feral home…I mean Ms. Kitty puss (I’m gonna rename her)! Her sister Thornn looks like a little bundle of murder! This is the kind of cat that gives all the other ones bad names. Pooping in my slippers, tearing up my curtains, and sharpening her claws on my furniture? No, thank you! It says it right in her trait…she betrays everybody she’s ever known! That says poop slipper for SURE!
Targeting: -OO-> Headlines: When Anarchist hits one or more opposing characters, after actions resolve give him a Headline token. Acidic Sweat: Anarchist can use Poison. When he does, if you remove a Headline token from him the damage dealt is penetrating.
Anarchist is a versatile damage dealer, with his Penetrating/Psychic Blast, and Energy Shield and his potentially penetrating Poison, to punish opponents for basing him to avoid his ranged defense modifiers. Penetrating damage is always good, as his his end-dial Pulse Wave. His ability to shoot in and out of adjacency will also help him ensure that he can attack who he wants, regardless of being based.
Anarchist: Is he the Anti-Christ? We KNOW he’s the Anarchist. I don’t think he knows what he wants, but he DOES know how to get it. He plans on making headlines by destroying the passerby. He WANTS to be…Anarchist. We aren’t exactly in the UK, but this guy is one bad mamma-jamma nonetheless…I wish I had acidic sweat…it would explain my perpetual skin condition a bit better if anything…

Leg-Breaker: When Tombstone hits an adjacent opposing character, give that character a Broken Bone token. Opposing characters modify their speed and attack values by -1 for each Broken Bone token they have. When a character with a Broken Bone token clears, remove a Broken Bone token from it.
Tombstone's average attack values leave something to be desired, but his reducers and high damage output in this set makes up for it, as does his Broken Leg mechanic. Giving -1s to attack alone is notable, as will the dilema that your opponent will have whether to push characters (even those that have indomitable) or clear to take the tokens off.
Okay, let’s do this…If Donald Sutherland was in the Hunger Games movies with Jennifer Lawrence, and Jennifer Lawrence is Mystique…Then Kevin Bacon played Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class with Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer Lawrence was in Passengers with Star-Lord. Star-Lord was in Star Trek with Mr. Svenning…Oh, Oh!!!...and Merle Dixon was in Tombstone with Kurt Russel! Wait, where was I again? Ah yes…Donald Sutherland is secretly Tombstone. I knew I could figure this out!

Mutant Mixed Martial Artist: Angel Dust can use Super Strength. When she attacks a single adjacent opposing character, increase her attack value by the number of action tokens the target has.
Angel Dust is almost a Grizzly+, being a great, cheap close attacker with Charge and even better reducers, and very respectable attack values, including the later dial bonuses from her special power.
I’m so glad that Gina Carano agreed to play her in my movie. To have an actual MMA fighter playing the role of a mutant MMA fighter lent a lot of credibility to the character that barely anybody would have bothered to investigate to see if she was a real character anyway. Oh, well. She gave us a cool fight scene, she did a super-hero landing, and now a new figure in the game. Thanks, I guess?
i think psylocke, fantomex and domino should all be 4 shields. all three will be hard to hit in a set full of stealth/close combat guys. you could pair the three of them on a team and wreck shop too. domino on her own is amazing for what she does. most characters will need an 8 or higher to hit her. and that prob makes it even harder. psylockes added dmg on certain figures makes her a great play against someone like cable. SC and a high attack means she has the chance to evade, and hit his defense twice. fantomex has great evasion, and prob to make sure he hits his close attacks or dual EE.
i know people are down on stingray, and i don't get why. in a set with few fliers, and outwit, he has BOTH! plus dual EE. people usually complain when someone has one bolt(mercenary). i don't get how koi boy gets 4 shields in a stealth heavy, teleport where i want to go set. he's easy points that i wouldn't play unless my team was STACKED! ohh, and JAYSOL, tombstone has IMPERVIOUS on his first click bro. not lots of that in this set so maybe that helps his rating. i can't wait till you get to the SR's.
