I have a question about this power and I haven't been able to find an answer. As a note: I'm still pretty new at playing this and don't fully understand all of the nuances of the game, yet.
Do I use this to summon pieces from my sideline? Or already on the board? The wording of "Place another friendly character with the Spider-Man Family keyword addict to this character" isn't very clear to me.
It makes more sense to me that it would have to be a piece already on the board, but it seems like it could easily be understood in relation to sideline pieces.

You place another character already on your force.
CALL IN HELP FROM THE SPIDER-VERSE!: Once per turn for all characters with this trait, when Spider-Man hits an opposing character, after actions resolve you may roll a d6 that can't be rerolled. 3 - 6: Place another friendly character with the Spider-Man Family keyword adjacent to this character.
You place another character already on your force.

This is correct. If the character was to come from your sideline or outside the game,it would say so.
I think the only time something comes from outside the game and doesn't say outside the game is on characters that make bystanders from their cards. Those bystanders always have to come from outside the game.

Sometimes there isn't much to go on, like with maximus' alpha primitive trait
The only thing that hints at it being from outside the game is the phrase "on the map". But usually, they will be a little more specific when they want it to come from outside the game.
Just to help you out, these clarifications from the E&C can help explain why you can't use a sideline character for Spidey's trait.

[C]Characters off the map can't use, can’t be chosen for, can't trigger, and can’t be affected by, any powers, abilities, or other game effects except for the effect removing them from the map or an effect that specifies otherwise.
[C]When building a starting force, you may also build a Sideline. Your sideline will contain game elements that can be brought into the game via a replacement effect or through specific game effects that reference or access the Sideline.
Hope it helps 😀
