Very nice to see this announcement on the front page! Keep it up, maybe by posting ALL of the 2017 Rules Changes articles. Many people in the forums have been clamoring for such important news items to be featured on the front page.

The full article essentially states that they won't be producing any more ATA's. They're "moving away" from off-the-board elements.
The official "Make Capt. Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew" rep. All other Zoo Crew fans, get in line behind me. There’s plenty of room for all of us.

Yes.

The rotation of ATAs has been anticipated by players for several years now, and with new rules coming, that time is now. We last “regularly” did ATAs with DC HeroClix: Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes, more than 3 years ago. We have had a few convention or other special ones released since, but none released with new sets. Like Feats and Battlefield Conditions and Relics before them, at one point ATAs were a routine part of the game, but none are planned for the future, and it’s appropriate (perhaps overdue) to rotate them out of Modern Age at this time. One of the primary intentions of rotation is to keep the game fresh, and allowing the same ATAs to be Modern Age-legal forever was interfering with that intention.
ATAs are new player unfriendly, and part of the piling up of many added effects on a single character that we’re trying to move away from. They can be tricky to balance and can impact the metagame significantly, and they focus the game too much on game elements off the map. There’s several reasons that this change has been long planned, and it almost happened with last year’s rotation, but we felt it best to have it alongside the other changes to the rules to provide additional context.

Typing out this list really put it into focus how significant the Age of Ultron OP event was for this current iteration of modern. 37 of its elements have made an impact on the meta game in one way or another, far outstripping all the others.
Resources don't exactly go away with this rotation. We still have the teleporter of course, as well as the Supreme Intelligence. Pick yours up today before the price sky rocket kids.
Don't Die is, for lack of a better term, dead. Doop, Deadman, R-Man, and the Box are all going up to that big Golden Age tournament in the sky. I don't think 060 Joker and Mystique will exactly hold down the fort in the brave new world to come. Tissues for them, as they wave goodbye to their highly obnoxious brothers.
Quinjet and Lex Luthor strategies are of course down for the count. What's more interesting to me is where ID card builds are going to go in the future. We still have the teleporter, and the Skull-Ship is out there lurking, but there isn't an easy point and click way for teams to just cheat in Nick Fury or Nightwing without having to give up a big piece's turn. Maybe a return to Mary Marvel or, dare I say it, CWSOP Sentry teleporter teams?
The ATA purge is interesting to me. Doctor Strange and pals certainly get their legs cut out from under them with the Midnight Sons axing, and duel Starfires have to find another way to spend 12 points now that Red Hood and the Outlaws is gone. Pulse Wave once again reigns supreme.
not really worried. still can use them for Golden Age games.
i'm in this camp but reading the keyword rules article they've gone from generic teams and probably from named theme teams though it doesn't actually state that in black and white in the article. So I suppose they'll see less play in golden age in the future.

Much as I liked ata's they had a good run and I'm not surprised they've gone.
Regarding the ID cards in the sets mentioned.it does say in the article all game elements released in the set so barring a further clarification to the contrary I'd say they're gone as well.
To me this fits with what hoojeebo says about Wizkids wanting to reduce off board elements and I sort of assumed they'd be rotating out and disappearing anyway to make way for the next new hotness.
I felt like they could've included 2015 Con Exclusives as well. At least the ones that made a showing in the 2015 Worlds. (like separate them like Doctor Nemesis).
Overall, I'm glad AoU is rotating out. Ultron Drones and Quinjet both made it in my personal list of Top 3 figures in the game, so to rotate those out is muy bueno.
