REALLY surprised you went with that ending song. You're usually very concerned about the podcast being PG and that song was most definitely NOT.
As for the cast itself, you and I have talked at great length about all the rules changes we've seen over the years and what it means to have to "Unlearn" everything. It's going to have it's own set of challenges, but I think this will ultimately be a good thing. As a player and a manager of a gaming store, new players are always a good thing and hopefully this achieves that for the game.
BTW, the Earthbound/Neutralized choice for Jakeem and then carrying him out of the fray was INSPIRED. I am usually VERY creative when playing characters like him, but I can't say that I would have thought of that...

after listening to this and wanting to play an original line-up X-Force team i built and played one @300pts with the LE Cable. i remember being really excited to collect this piece for the sculpt (and because i had the New Mutants tb) but being kinda underwhelmed by the dial itself. after hearing you talk about him i decided to give him another shot and i have to say that he didn't disappoint. i never rolled the leadership (which sucked), but i managed to lead the team to victory. Yay for comically-accurate SUCCESSFUL theme teams!!!
i feel that Cable works better with the more modern way the game is being designed with smaller, more compact dials than when it was released. regardless, i got to use ever power set on his dial to the fullest AND he even sacrificed himself in the last action of the game to ko the last enemy, which felt very Cable-y. all in all an awesome game with a piece i like but had kinda written-off a while ago... thanks for making me reconsider him.

I'm surprised I used that too. I think it was a combination of liking it and my then current level of exhaustion that allowed me to give it a pass. I hope no younglings had their ears damaged in the process.

GREAT! I'm happy that we influenced you and that you had a good time along the way!
In reference to the changing interaction of free actions and beginning of turn events, I wonder if they'll have a clause or golden rule that says any text on a character card or game element supersedes anything in the rule book. It would allow the Batgirl you mention to function normally as well as the ID cards. Although there are certainly circumstantances that would make that a bad idea.

Red Son Wonder Woman is another that will require errata. Otherwise her free action Mind Control will be impossible to activate.
If they include the "character card is always right" rule, new players won't have to rely on some online errata they may have never heard of and just play their figure as it is.

I don't think they can do that, as some of these things fly in the face of the new basic structure of the game.
