Story:
**********The Holt’s Home**********
Cody Holt entered his living room. The hair on his arm stood up straight as he did so, his muscles tensed, and he pivoted quickly to see an unknown man standing in his room. “Who are you?”
“That,” The man said softly, “Is the wrong question. The right one, is what can I do for you?” The man turns to Cody’s liquor cabinet and pours himself a drink. “Your dog and wife are safe, by the way. I saw to it that they would not be home for this meeting. If you give me a few minutes, I will be on my way, and hopefully, our path’s will never cross again.”
“I’m listening,” Cody said, moving towards one of his weapon caches.
“And preparing to strike!” The man laughed. “There’s a reason you are regarded as the Bat’s most formidable predecessor. I am… well, you could call me a Metahuman enthusiast. I study your kind, track their activities, and record anything that may prove useful, or profitable for the future. On top of that, I procure valuable objects and see that they are put to good use. Objects,” the man pulled a small golden framed mirror from his pocket, “Like this.” The man set the mirror on Cody’s table.
Cody’s eyes, distracted by the interesting object, drifted to the mirror. Inside it, he saw this room. But it was different. He was looking at his wife and dog. The more he looked, the more fully he could see the scene, the dog left the room, his ears jumping to attention. Cody’s wife heard a knock on the door and she went to answer it. A high pitch yelp followed several loud barks. The door to the home swung open revealing a hideous, red grin and a bone chilling laugh. The vision went black as the man covered it with a thick black cloth. “It is best not to gaze too deeply into the Siege Perilous.”
“The, Siege Perilous?” Cody asked meeting the man’s gaze again.
“Yes. It is an artifact of unkown origin. The metahuman I acquired it from claimed it had come from a deity known as Roma. If you pass through it, it is said that your soul will be judged, and you will get a new life, one that gives you what you deserve from your actions in this one. I’ve wondered what to do with this for a while now, and you seemed an ideal candidate for it. The man walked towards the door. If you ever find your life as a publicly known hero too strenuous, or you want to protect those you love from fates like that which you saw in the mirror, you can use this to reset your life.”
“What will it reset too?” Cody asked, suspiciously.
The man shrugged. “I do not know. I have never used it. You now know as much about it as I do, but I have no need of it, where you might. Being publicly known is no way for a hero to lead their life. The man bowed shortly to Cody, and left the room. The Siege Periolous left on his table.
The man exited the building and proceeded to a towncar that waited for him. He entered the backseat and sat next to a woman who was waiting for him. “I could have handled that.” She said, anger in her voice.
The man smiled. “Indeed you could have,” The man answered, the hint of a laugh in his voice. “As my Operative you handle many of my affairs. But I wanted to meet this Cody Holt myself. It’s like meeting one’s celebrities. Speaking of which, did you…”
“I have the Batson’s. They are restrained at the safe house.” The Operative spoke directly.
“Excellent. Now, I need you to find poor Billy.”
**********Battleworld**********
Loki collapsed as the ritual pulled more and more strength from him. “Loki, are you,” Superman started, alarm in his voice.
“Fine… Don’t… Stop…” Pain etched every word. Superman nodded and stood his ground as more and more energy was pulled from him. Dr. Strange hovered above, words of magic flowing from him like a river, washing over all of them.
Batman stood his ground as well, but he was beginning to feel the strain. He was the only Human not gifted with cosmic powers that served as a focusing point for the magic Dr. Strange was casting. A paragon of Will was needed, and he was proving he was up to the task. “We all know the risks, Clark.” Batman yelled to him.
Superman nodded shortly, his eyes drifting to the main point of the star. There stood Jean Grey, the Phoenix host from earth, lost during the War of a Thousand Suns, reborn through the power of the White Lantern Corps. Her flames flickered under the power being drawn from her. “I can feel… The Phoenix fighting this….” Her words where not spoken, yet they all heard it inside their heads.
Above them, Dr. Strange’s hand clenched shut, causing a surge of energy to run through each point of the star. “He’s fighting back,” Diana called as the being at the center of the star pushed outwards in all directions. The being turned to face Superman. Their eyes met, as he began to whisper into Superman’s mind. “Don’t listen to him, Clark!”
“NO!” Superman yelled, charging straight at the creature they sought to bind. In the span of a millisecond, several things happened at once. Dr. Strange’s spell, being interrupted by Superman’s brashness, twisted and reached out. The creature at the center, urged on by his success, released an enormous burst of psychic energy, and Loki, seeking to contain the beast, created a duplicate in Superman’s corner, restablishing the five points necessary for the star. The result was a huge burst of energy that ripped through all present, and rippled out through all of reality.
**********Dark Watch’s Hideout**********
“He was one helluva leader.” The Question spoke, refilling the shot glass before her. “To Dick Grayson!” She knocked back the shot. The gathered hero’s murmured their agreement.
Danny Rand stood up, “I think it goes without saying that the Dark Watch is weaker now than it was before this happened. But I also think we need to remember what we are fighting for. What Dick gave his life fighting for. He may have died fighting Catwoman and Black Cat, but he gave his life for Gotham. We need to take this city back from the monsters, the criminals, and the billionaires who think it belongs to them. We need to show them that this city is a city of heroes.”
“Ugh,” Robin murmured from the corner. She had never been one to buy into big speeches and soaring dreams. Tabatha was, when you got right down to it, a realist. “This city is about to blow up.” She murmured to nobody in particular. “Won’t be safe for anyone before too long.” She thought back to the hundreds of training sessions she had had with Nightwing and Batman, to years and years spent teasing each other and fighting alongside each other. A small smile spread across her lips. “I’ll see you soon, Dick.”
Over in the corner, Ragman sat listening to the radio. It had been reporting the apprehension and imprisonment of Harely Quinn, right hand clown to the Joker himself. Now, it was reporting something much more urgent. “Cloak,” Ragman said urgently, his attention locked in on a small radio, “Get us to New York, now!”
**********Stark Enterprises, The Office of Justin Hammer**********
With a Brilliant flash of light the Crimson Cowl and her daughter Sasha hammer materialize in The Stark Enterprises building, senses bombarded by blaring alarms and the sounds of battle outside as the Hoods men overpower the Hammer Security drones. "Damn it! How did this happen!? Where is Fisk and Cold?"
"Wilson Fisk, despite my warnings, has decided the wisest course of action would be to send his forces to Yancy street and face the combined might of the Maggia and the Hood while simultaneously facing his usual tormentor, the devil of hell's kitchen and his.....defenders." Justin Hammer sits behind his desk, his words measured and smooth but his face a mask of fury at this fiasco. The building shakes as the battle rages and Hammer closes his eyes, takes a deep breath and glares at his progeny. "Set backs happen.....New York has become a waste of effort. It's time we seek out new ventures elsewhere. But first" he glares at the Cowl "activate the Hammer Fall Protocol"
Justine's eyes narrow under her Cowl "targets?" she inquires, a slight hesitation in her voice.
"The city of New York.....all of it......everyone" Hammer's tone brooks no argument from the women.
"Dad's not going to like this" Sasha remarks, arms crossed, a worried look on her face
"I will deal with the Khan personally. I'm sure he will understand the need to punish this.....disrespectful behavior."
The Cowl nods her head "I will give the order now, then arrange for our highest priority projects to be moved to another facility"
Hammer nods, but before the Cowl can leave he adds "use that operational Stark armor to lead the assault. I'm sure Tony will be thrilled to see the destruction his Tech is capable of if he ever returns. After the civil war can you imagine the public's reaction to Iron man killing innocent people?"
........a few short hours later, the skies and streets of New York fill with mechanized war machines. Robots, drones, military grade armor suites opening fire indiscriminately on any and all targets possessing the the frail thing called....life.

To play this, make teams for each of the above matchups, with one person taking on the role of the Hammer Drones, and one person taking on the role of the Defenders of New York. Start with the teams for Battle one, and move down the list of matchups. When one person’s team is completely eliminated, deploy their next wave of troops to their starting area. Continue until either the last of the Defender’s fall, or the last of the Hammer Drones fall.
It seems to be a bright sunny day. Everything is normal. Except for a near empty city with a population of only 26 individuals. All but one of the population awaken to find themselves unable to move, floating above the ground in a circle surrounding their captor, Arcade.
The 25 captors consist of villainous lieutenants of local and far away crime lords – Hush, Kraven, Electro, Mirrormaster, Proxima Midnight, Lizard, Sabertooth, Copperhead, KG Beast, Karai, Emperor Penguin, Gambit, Shriek, Vermin, Vulture, Beetle, Killer Frost, Heatwave, Elektra, Justine Hammer, Killer Croc, Cipher, Blue Krait, Melter, and Scarecrow.
The man normally dressed in a white and green suit is wearing some extra accessories. Tied to his waist belt include 8 large oddly shaped hammers. On his right hand is 8 colorful rings. Each of the 7 look to resemble one of the 7 Lantern Corps, and the eighth resembles a Legion Flight Ring from the distant future. Lastly, Arcade wears a golden glove – attached is 6 glowing gems.
“Look who’s finally waking up. Hey sleeping heads. Hope you has a good nap.”
“By the way do you guys like my new swag?” Arcade asks as he shows of his new creations.
“Made them all by myself. Took me ages. Now come-on, let’s get you guys down from there.” Arcade waves down the kidnaped. The 25 drop to the ground. Immediately, many of the lieutenants rush the man in the middle. Punching, shooting, and blasting powers mix as they strike the man in white. Arcade seems disappointed. “Really? Come on? Don’t you think I planned for this? Arcade asks unaffected by the attacks. “You’re in my world now. Here. I’m the GOD!” Arcade shouts as he uses both hands to pound the air, using force energy to push everyone away.
“Can everyone just calm down and let me explain before you all just come at me like wild animals? Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. I’m pretty sure some of you actually are wild animals. Anyway, let’s get this party going.” With his hands, Arcade shoos away the villains. The 25 lieutenants begin to hover off the ground. A few seconds pass, and they are thrown miles high in the air. Everyone is then pulled in one of five directions. Each direction is comprised of 5 individuals. Everyone lands safely as there descent slows quickly before impact with the ground. Quickly, once everyone is on their feet, out of the floor, walls, and even trees pop out television screens. On them is Arcade’s grin.
“Listen up here folks. You’ve all been chosen, from a large choice of idiots, to be the newest contestants of the newest biggest greatest HBO specials series that is Murder City. I know, I know. You must be so excited to begin so let’s get to the specifics. First off. As you can see, you have been separated into groups of five. These other four contestants that you see before you are not your friends, they are not your family, and they are not your allies. They are murders, thieves, and conspiring a-holes. And they plan on killing each and every one of you. Why? Because you are the same as them. That’s right, only one of you, from each group, is walking out of here alive. These matches are to the death. Those people you see in front of you, well either one of them is walking out of here or you are. So don’t even think about pulling a Katniss and Peeta. Romance won’t help you here.”
“Whoever makes it gets to go back to being loyal pups for their masters. Unless, I decide to put the winners in a match all against each other. Who knows! I’m random like that. Also, depending on where I sent you, there may be some fun playthings laying around. Or maybe something else. And I know that some of you, looking at you Justine, may not be able to contend against the other, and no one wants an uneven match. So, I may have sent you some of my top notch robotics to make things a little more even.”
“Also you’re in my world now. I’m your god, your lord, your messiah. So no special trickery will help you get out here.” Says Arcade as all of the televisions point at Mirrormaster. Anyway, let’s get started. Remember, you’re in a game show. So don’t be rude to the other contestants, don’t stress it too much, and have so fun you kids. Welcome, to Murder City!”

Special Notes.
OOC – Hey everyone, TombOfSilence here. Just wanted to go over a few things about the game.
First, everyone has 100 points to choose for their lieutenants/teams. I know some characters don’t have any clix at all, or clix that get even near 100 points. So in order to help you may choose any generic robots to help your lieutenant. When you put your lieutenants in their starting area just have any extra forces placed adjacent to your lieutenant. Second, in order to make things a little more in the spirit of Arcade, I made a list of possible map rules that can be used with any map that you choose to play on. Lastly, if you have any questions about the matches either ask in the forum or PM me.
Starting area rules
-Place lieutenants randomly in one of the four corners of the map. The remaining player can be placed in one of the four center map squares. Any extra robot characters should be placed adjacent to their lieutentant.
Map Rules.
Use any map you’d like, but there are some special rules. Right before you start your game roll a d6. The result correlates to special map rule.
1. To Infinity And Beyond!
- At the beginning of the game all 6 Infinity Gems should be randomly spread across the map, placed within a legal square. Since these are not real relics, they may be picked up with a power action without having to roll.
2. You Get Outwitted! And You Get Outwitted! EVERYONE GETS OUTWITTED!
-At the beginning of the game, roll a d6.
On a…
1 – all damage powers and abilities are outwitted. Not including traits.
2 – all attack powers and abilities are outwitted. Not including traits.
3 – all speed powers and abilities are outwitted. Not including traits.
4 – all defense powers and abilities are outwitted. Not including traits.
5 – all powers and abilities are outwitted. Not including traits.
6 – all powers and abilities are outwitted. INCLUDING TRAITS.
3. Hammer Time!
- At the beginning of the game all 8 Hammers (from the Book of the Skull) should be randomly spread across the map, placed within a legal square. Since these are not real relics, they may be picked up with a power action without having to roll.
4. It’s A Bird! It’s A Plane! Nope, It’s A Meteor Coming Right For You!
-At the beginning of the game, place 15 light objects randomly across the board, placed within a legal square. At the end of everyone’s turn, roll a d6. On a 1, that player’s lieutenant takes 1 unavoidable damage. On 2-6 nothing happens. If hit, then place one light object under that character.
5. If You Liked It Then You Shoulda Put A Ring On It
- At the beginning of the game all 7 Power Rings (not including White or Black) and 1 Legion Flight Ring should be randomly spread across the map, placed within a legal square. Since these are not real relics, they may be picked up with a power action without having to roll.
6. Krakoa - The Teenage Robot Island
-At the end of everyone’s turn, that player rolls a d6.
On a…
1-3 Krakoa is not amused. Nothing happens
4 – Krakoa has gas. Poison! Every character takes 1 poison damage.
5 – Krakoa is taking a dive. All squares on the edge of the map, that haven’t already been effected by this rule, permanently become water terrain.
6 – Krakoa is mad. Make a ranged attack to an opposing character from any corner square of the map. 8 Range. 10 Attack. 2 Damage. Line of fire for this attack ignores hindering terrain and elevation.
Finally, the winner's will be based on who wins the most fights. So if everyone plays the first battle, and Kraven wins 4/5 games, he advances to the next round.
- The Maggia Casino Ship, Docked at Hell's Kitchen -
"Boss, the Hammer drones don't seem like they're gonna stop anytime soon," Hammerhead reported to the Maggia board room. "Should we move out to help? Looks like the Hood's knee deep in the mess."
The room was silent for longer than expected as the Shocker considered something.
"Are all our assets accounted for?" Herman asked at last.
"Yes sir, anything of importance was moved to the ship and we're fortified in case any bolt-heads come our way."
"Hm... No money in it then. We're staying put."
"But what about Mr. Robins?" Janice couldn't help but voice a concern. "He's been a valued customer since the beginning, wouldn't it be worthwhile to throw him a freebee this time?"
"No. It wouldn't be." Shocker's tone wasn't as lighthearted as it had usually been. "I don't know if you've forgotten, Janice, but we're in this for ourselves. You know why we've been working with Hood all this time? Because he's the only one in this city who's taken us seriously at all. I mean, look at this whole Hammer situation - you know why we're not involved? Because Hammer doesn't take us seriously.
Well ladies and gentlemen, once this whole Hammer situation has blown over, and the big players in this game have their pieces all worn down, I think it's time the Maggia comes in and steals the board."
Herman stood and moved over to Janice's seat. "For that, I think we could use a little help... Janice, there's a phone call I want you to make."
"The city of New York.....all of it......everyone" Hammer's tone brooks no argument from the women.

Will it be more offensive, or less offensive, when One rusty MK I suit lands on the shocker's yacht, blasts one goon and then powers down?
"The city of New York, is one fire! Death machines from the sky invade the city of New York in mass as they rain fires of hell on her citizens, but who could be responsible for such a heinous act, why it's that mean old Mr. Justin Hammer, but who will save day. Oh things look dim for old New York!" Said a ominous narrator.
As the "Beck Production", the team looked in horror as they filmed the carnage on the request of Hammer Industries. The various Iron Men and Hammer Drones laying waste to the city was too much for some of the production team except one Mysterio. As he looked out the balcony behind his one way mirror dome, Beck smirked a smile for this was an oppurtunity for him to film with no stunt required.
"Alright people listen up, I know this was a bit more than what we expected taking this job from Hammer and what not, but make no mistake we are professionals dammit, I will not have you idiots going home just because you fools have a weak bladder. Said Mysterio as he attempts to inspire his troops.
"However this is a golden opportunity for my Syndicate to swoop in and save civilians! Hydro Man place a wall to cut off the Drones attack on civilians, Clayface scare and corral the sheep to a nearby metro tunnel access, Jack O'Lantern and Boomerang start coordinating with local police and EMT also make sure to give out those Winslow plushies of The Syndicate!, production team I want you to film us and those drone attacks at every angle at every shot conceivable especially on me! As for myself I will provide distractions for the Drones to attack my illusions and provide smoke cover for Clayface as we move the civilians to safety. Said Mysterio with a commanding presence.
The crew looked confused or awestruck at the words Mysterio used none of them invoking his own ego.
"what did I stutter people get moving you idiots we have a war zone to cover dammit and this will be included in the film!" Said Mysterio in annoyance of rage.
The Syndicate moved out as instructed and the camera crew now more determined than ever to carry out their jobs as they filmed the action.
"Where the hell did that come from Beck?" Asked Clayface.
"You pick up a few things from Octavius when he's leader, plus while the local heroes and crime bosses are occupied by the Drones will be grabbing the publicity right under there nose, bwahahaha!" Said an overly enthusiastic Mysterio.
"Uh huh, if I didn't know any better I thought you were turning hero Beck what's next, ya gonna help a cat out of a tree, kiss a baby for election also where the hell is Mirror Master in all this?" Said Clayface playfully mockingly.
Mysterio sneered under his dome as they directed civilians to safety, the idea of being a hero annoyed him.
"Oh shut up Matt this all just a stunt nothing more, never asscitate the "H" to me or my persona, as Mirror Master, that's classified he'll be attending a special event one will be rooting for when we get back." Said Mysterio.

The dynamic duo Scarlet Witch and Vision, Mysterio
Janice Lerox sighed in frustration. The Cross Bronx Expressway was a nightmare this morning, bumper to bumper traffic as far as the eye could see. The radio was giving her no insights into the holdup, normally clear news stations were nothing but static this morning. In fact....every station was static. "Weird." She thought, sipping her coffee, waiting patiently for the line up of cars to move forward. As the minutes ticked by, Janice did her best to stay zen about the traffic.....if things started moving soon she might just make it in time for work.
A noise began to rise, off in the distance. It was faint at first, but rapidly began growing louder, the booming sound of engines in flight quickly rising over the din of traffic. Janice leaned forward, looking out of the windshield of her car at the sky. She caught sight of a small squadron of those Hammer Drone things flying towards the expressway. Ever since the heroes had vanished and Fisk and Hammer had promised to take over for them she had seen these machines flying around on a few occasions. She still didn't know what to think of the whole thing. It didn't seem as if Hammer and Fisk were making much of a difference. The news kept talking about a gang war between some guy called the hood and the "kingpin" and some of her friends had even told her about super villains starting more and more fights in the streets. And now these new Outsiders? Janice didn't know what to make of them either. Who were these guys? Why didn't they go missing with the others? Janice wanted to trust them but it just wasn't the same as......
Janice's thoughts were suddenly interrupted as she witnessed the bright streak of a missile launching from one of the Hammer Drones. She barley had any time to register the weapon firing before....to Janice's shock and horror....the missile impacted on the expressway a few miles ahead of her. She felt the earth rumble as a gout of flame and car parts burst forth from the impact site, the flare of the explosion blinding her for the briefest of seconds. Janice's ears were bombarded by the screams of her fellow commuters, all of them shocked by the atrocity they had just witnessed. A few people had gotten out of their cars, many of them running to see if they can help. More were grabbing their cellphones, desperately dialing 911.
Within moments, all of them soon learned the difference between screams of shock and screams of panic, for as Janice watched with rapidly growing dread, the drones had swooped lower. Flying along the express way, the engines of the machines were soon joined by the deafening hum of auto cannons firing. Time seemed to move slowly as Janice watched a rain of shells pouring from the sky upon the trapped commuters, the ordnance of the strafing drones ripping through the vehicles in front of her like paper. Janice could not move, could not escape, could not even scream as the rain of destruction fell upon her car, her senses bombarded by the smell of burning metal, the bright flash of the shells tearing through her world, the sounds only describable as the cacophony of chaos and nightmare as twisted plastic, metal, and seat leather disintegrated around her.
And then it was all over. Janice sat, shocked....stunned....unable to process anything. Slowly, after what seemed like an eternity.....her vision began to focus. The smell of destruction filled her noise. And she could hear....could hear.....she tried to ignore the sounds coming from the other commuters. She focused on one thing, one miracle, one great blessing. Somehow....she was alive. Somehow the shells had missed her. She looked around in a daze, her car was little more than twisted ruin, and her arm was riddled with shrapnel she didn't seem to feel yet....but she was alive! It was going to be ok! Soon superman or captain america, or maybe even wonder woman they would get here and get her out of this hell and fix everything and it was all going to be ok and all go back to normal and everyone was going to be alright and.......
Janice's eyes welled with tears, as she watched with despair while a second wave of drones flew into position for another strafing run....and she remembered the heroes were not coming.
