This week I ran a Fast and the Furious themed event that ended up being quite fun! Players all really liked it and got into the spirit of things.
I didn't require a vehicle for this event, as some people just don't have one (though, who doesn't have an Overdrive ammiright?) I try to keep this in mind with all my scenarios. I find that being too specific in required elements can cause players not to show up. Either they don't own it, or maybe they just don't want to use it, so they stay home. Players choosing to stay home and mow the lawn or play Xbox over coming to Clix isn't exactly healthy for your local tournament scene, so always be mindful of what you're requiring. I can't tell you how often I've looked at a scenario's requirements and decided to stay home.
For reference, here are the current vehicle rules:
Fortunately, everyone had and brought a vehicle. The Batcycle and Turtle Van ended up being the most prevalent! There was one Quinjet, Thanos' Throne, even Green Arrow and Robin had their motorcycles revved up.
Most everyone took this as a chance to use something that they normally wouldn't. It started off with a lot of questions on what could and couldn't be done. By the middle of the second round, I think everyone had the hang of it and were off and running (driving?).
Just another way to use your local tournament to teach your players some rule or element and how to use it. Allowing Pilot keywords to activate Pilot abilities and ignore combat symbols reminded players that Tiny, Giant and Colossals can't normally be pilots and what to look for with Pilot abilities. Giving the vehicles Indomitable called out that Vehicles do not actually have Willpower normally. I think every Judge has been asked once or twice if Vehicles have Willpower. It sure does make sense!
Another scenario that is more about racing than the fighting uses two of the Runner's raceway map stuck together in a figure 8. I haven't done this myself, but using the two you could build a race scenario that required multiple laps. Could be a way to do it if you have 4-5 players and want to do one Battle Royal with limited time. Nascar or Pixar's Cars could be themes for this way as well.
Well that's it everyone, come back next time for more! Hit the NoS and Cause a Scene-ario!

This was a lot of fun. I've never played a vehicle before, so it was great to get a chance to use my Turtle Van instead of it gathering dust. I think I'll break it out again, now that I know how to drive my competition mad.
Wizkids had a cool game called Race Day with the final scenario premise. I think it might have done better if the number of commons and number of rares were switched. There were 4 commons and I want to say 8 rares. After getting a fifth Jeff Gordon common, I gave up on the game.

I remember that game. it was like Pirates with the styrene cars you assembled? I never tried that one (not really a Nascar guy)

I wonder if you could incorporate the capture ability by allowing people to capture vehicles. Not sure this is even a feasible, but I would do it just so I could say "You owed me a ten second car". That alone would have been worth it for me. Thanks for the article! I always enjoy reading these articles because they bring out some fun (although often time crazy) thoughts.

Like a Grand Theft Auto mechanic of some kind... almost like a Capture/Mind Control thing where you could make an attack roll and use the vehicle for that turn or something... that's a wild idea!
