Lord Darkseid was contemplating. He had just acquired a major asset in his bid for power. He now had control of Doomsday. What a coup that was. the power or powers that be had altered Doomsday in two respects. Doomsday was now hard wired to obey Darkseid in any manner Darkseid chose, but Doomsday could no longer evolve. Doomsday had reached his evolutionary deadend.

Darkseid knew that Thanos was gathering forces to attack Apokolips and overthrow Darkseid. Doomsday would be a difficult barrier for Thanos to get past despite his gathered force.

Darkseid thought about who else he had at his disposal.

Of his own forces he had Desaad, Kalibak, Granny Goodness, and two Female Furies; Lashina and Knockout. and of course his infinite parademons. None of his other lieutenants had been brought over yet.

He had T.O. Morrow and Professor Ivo and the Key working for him. T.O. Morrow was in charge of the Sentinel technology that Darkseid stole early on in his tenure in this alternate reality. Professor Ivo brought with him the android Amazo. Two other foes of the Justice League rounded things out. General Wade Eiling; who had usurped the body of a Shaggy Man and was a former military superior of Captain Atom, and Major Force, also a traditional enemy of Captain Atom and the Green Lantern Kyle Raynor.

He had an agreement with the mutant Magneto which meant he could summon the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to his aid. They were one Boom Tube ride away. That gave him the use of mutants such as Sabretooth, Mystique, Mastermind, the Toad, Avalanche, Unus, Black Tom Cassidy, Destiny and Whirlwind.

Lastly, he had retained the services of Deathstroke the Terminator.

Metron still insisted on attempting neutrality but Darkseid felt confident that if Apokolips is threatened from outside forces, Orion would feel honor bound to defend it and Mister Miracle and Big Barda would join him.

Darkseid used to have control of the four dark judges; Judge Death, Judge Mortis, Judge Fear and Judge Fire, but with the advent of the death demon Nekron, they were given over to that one without any warning to Darkseid. Darkseid resented that, but he kept that resentment to himself.

Darkseid found himself visited by the Demon lords Nightmare and Mephisto quite regularly. They were always trying to manipulate him but to no avail.

Darkseid had also received visits from Umar of the Dark Dimension and Loki of Asgard but to a lesser extent. They were simply trying to take his measure and warn him to stay away from their realms.

The Phantom Stranger and old Shazam also paid him a visit, just to let him know they were out there. The Phantom Stranger warned him that the Spectre still existed despite his clash with Galactus.

Darkseid had a memory of his past encounters with the X-Men and Dark Phoenix and of his bout with Galactus even though they occurred in alternate realities then his own.

He was also aware of the new cosmic force that had arrived. Doctor Manhattan.

Darkseid had also tried to broker alliances with the various alien races. He had failed miserably with the Skrulls before and the Kree refused to even treat with him. Korvac/Michael who now governed the Badoon chose to remain neutral while Princess Lilandra of the Shiar ordered him away.

Omni-Man; who now governed the Saurians, was allied with Thanos and refused to negotiate with him but talks with the newly arrived Dominators might be promising. Desaad and the Key were working on that.

Darkseid knew better then to even try to work out a deal with the Phalanx, led jointly by the robotic Brainiac and Ultron. Instead he had Ivo send Amazo to negotiate with them and with the Manhunters. Ivo was pretending to be Amazo's slave while he directed the negotiations through Amazo.

Thanos was not sitting still. He was doing what he could to gather a force formidable enough to bring down Darkseid.

He had at his disposal: Graviton, Lobo, Terrax the Tamer and Venom, He had captured Red Hulk, Red She-Hulk, Deadpool and Daken. They were being prepared and conditioned to fight for Thanos. He had harvested a large force of Alien Xenomorphs to unleash. He had an alliance brokered with the Magus and with Omni-Man who now led the race of Saurians.

He was still in good standing with the current Infinity Watch members; who were unaware of his other current allies particularly the Magus though Mar-Vell; a recent member suspected something was amiss. Other members of Infinity Watch included Adam Warlock, Gamora, Moondragon, Mantis, Pip The Troll and Quasar.

Thanos also had something worked out to draw the Defenders into his battle that would bring in Dr. Strange, the childlike Hulk, Namor the Sub-Mariner, the Silver Surfer, the Valkyrie, Nighthawk, Hellcat and Gargoyle.

Thanos still felt he might need more help and he was; as yet, currently unaware of Darkseid's acquisition of Doomsday. That might have made him more desperate.

He was; however, making a play for the Son of Darkseid Superman who was currently helping to guard Oa in the absence of all of the Guardians save Ganthet. Since Supergirl showed him the error of his ways, he had burned with a desire to retaliate against Darkseid. He only waivered because of the loyalty he felt toward Ganthet. His unfamiliarity with Thanos was a factor as well.

Dr. Doom seethed with anger. He resented that Latveria was the recent location for an incursion from the DC Universe. He was angry about the damage to his land and people by Doomsday and he was angry about Darkseid unleashing Parademons on Latveria when his people were down from the devastation caused by Doomsday.

Dr. Doom vowed revenge on both Doomsday and Darkseid and he furiously worked to unlock the secrets of the Fatherbox he had confiscated so that Dr. Doom could exact revenge.

Dr. Doom would need more allies if he insisted on revenge. His forces consisted of Crossbones, Taskmaster, the Grim Reaper, the Living Laser and the Parasite and recently he had acquired Deadshot.

Kang was his primary ally and Kang had the Fatal Five, The Legion of Supervillains, Abra Kadabra, Chronos and Extant at his disposal.

But most of those invited trouble with the Legion of Superheroes. Doom wanted to avoid that.

He had worked out a deal with Lex Luthor but that really just amounted to a truce more then it was an alliance. He could not trust Luthor to have his back.

Mister Sinister's chances to be a major player were diminishing. He had the Goblin Queen and N'Astirh. He had Harpoon and Arclight. He had an endless supply of clones for those two, Sabretooth and Vertigo.

He had an alliance with both the Sinister Six and with the Rogue's Gallery of the Flash but both of those organizations had changed. He was forced to renegotiate with both of them. The Sinister Six now consisted of Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Dr. Octopus, the Vulture, Electro and the Scorpion.

The Flash's Rogue's gallery now consisted of two Mirror Masters, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Heatwave, Weather Wizard, the Pied Piper,The Trickster and the Top. Gorilla Grodd had also joined them now that he was exiled from Gorilla city.

Mister Sinister knew that it was just a matter of time before Apocalypse showed up. he was hoping to cement his powerbase before then. Suddenly he was receiving genetic material that would enable him to clone many who had died in this reality, including Bastion. He was trying to decide whether to act on that or not.

Hydra was having a civil war. One faction wanted to follow and obey Viper, Aka Madame Hydra, but a larger faction wanted to follow Baron Strucker.

Their current headquarters in the Canary Islands absorbed the brunt of this fight.

M.O.D.O.K. still held firm control of the Azores. He also retained firm control of A.I.M.
He controlled the Super Adaptoid but that was all he had on his side at the moment.

Lex Luthor was fuming. He had met with Dr. Doom and they had agreed to a détente of sorts but he knew that Doom still believed that the Latverian dictator was intellectually superior to Luthor and Luthor burned to prove Doom wrong.

Luthor also saw that he needed to beef up his forces. He now had an alliance with the android version of Brainiac but Brainiac was very concerned with the existence of a robotic Brainiac and was interested in investigating that. Brainiac was also curious about learning all he could about the Marvel Universe denizens and the other realities represented in this new reality.

Luthor still had at his disposal, Cheshire, Silver Swan, Metallo, Dr. Polaris and the recently acquired Kryptonite Man. He had a loose alliance with the Crime Syndicate Justice League but he couldn't count on them to be reliable. He also had a deal with the Squadron Sinister but they were not staying in Metropolis.

He still controlled Lex Corps though the public saw a very different face thanks to hologram technology though he doubted Superman was fooled. Oddly, Superman hadn't called him out on it yet.

Cheetah had been his but she had gone over to serve Circe after the witch arrived in this reality.

He was also working on an alliance with the Sinister Six. Dr. Octopus seemed especially open to an alliance. They consisted of Doc Ock, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, the Vulture, Electro and the Scorpion (who was replacing the Sandman on that team).

Recently he had been contacted by Mister Sinister, who sought an alliance.

Ares (the DC universe version), had brought Circe to meet Hecate of the Hellboy universe. Circe had Giganta, the Cheetah and Dr. Psycho on her side since she had arrived.

Hecate still had Ian Nottingham and Bron with her along with Rasputin. She also had an army of Stix Brother clones working for her despite the defection of Torquemada.

Pluto and Ares of the Marvel universe were there along with Loki, Amora the Enchantress and Skurge the Executioner. Malekith, Ulik, Hela and the Egyptian Death god Seth were also on hand. An avatar in the form of a Fire Demon represented Surtur. Karnilla the Norn Queen had been invited.

Umar had sent Baron Mordo and Felix Faust to represent her.

A loose alliance was being discussed.

In Beijing, the Mandarin had conquered this reality's China and had at his disposal: The Radioactive Man, Fin Fang Foom, Chang Tzu, August General In Iron, Accomplished Perfect Physician, Ghost Fox Killer and Lady Shiva.

He was negotiating an alliance the Red Ghost, who controlled Russia in this reality. The Red Ghost had at his disposal, his Super Apes, the Titanium Man, the Crimson Dynamo, and an entire force of Rocket Reds.

Germany was still under the thumb of Torquemada, despite it having been brought into the Twentieth Century.

He had at his disposal Natalia Kassle and several Major Maxim robots, His own Stix Brothers clones, Arnim Zola, Baron Blood and Baron Heinrich Zemo (a clone). He had sent Baron Strucker out to take over Hydra.

Arnim Zola and Baron Zemo had managed to overcome a creature (Horrorclix) called the Fiend (Frankenstein Monster) which now accompanied Baron Blood on his missions.

In Tokyo there was the Hand, led by Kirigi. They had absorbed the Yakuza led by Masahiro Arashi and were reinforced by the sorceress Yukio and the Death Demon. They also had the Silver Samurai under their thumb.

They had also been approached by the Mandarin. They had not subdued Japan because of a strong hero presence there that included Sunfire, Shi, Katana and the reformed assassins; Kabuki, Scarab, Siamese and Tiger Lily.
