Hey all, I'm looking for a play mat (or two) so we don't have to use the paper one from the starter (and another printed paper one). Any suggestions? I'm looking for something clean (would prefer it to be "generic" and not have X-MEN or SPIDER-MAN logos/icons plastered over it) and of course inexpensive. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't care for any of the official WK ones (and it sounds like you don't), there are places online that will print custom ones for you. Similar to custom mouse pads.

I've not done it myself, but I know several people that have and they are happy with it. Just provide them with the website with the image you want and they will print it for you. I know people that have used Inked Gaming to get theirs printed. I am sure you can find others, too, with a little googling.

A few months ago, I saw a product (eBay? Etsy?) that was (a) made of wood, (b) folded,
(c) had slots for your cards and (d) had straps to hold dice. Why would you want that? To be able to bring your team to an event, open it up and immediately play. And to then be able to put your dice back under the straps, close it, move to the next table, and immediately play.

I didn't purchase one, and have not found that again ... even though I've searched many times for it.

The ones I saw had custom artwork that featured Hulk - and it's possible that the trademark "police" found this guy/gal and shut them down. But the concept was good and even w/o the artwork should be something that could find a market.
