Oh, it's definitely eye candy. I mean, the art is gorgeous, and if ever there was a book that might as well be subtitled "limited edition statue available now from your local specialty retailer," this is it. The stories themselves aren't shabby, though. It's always nice to get a Batwoman story that reminds you of how good the character can be when DC editorial gets the hell out of the way, and Bombshells delivers that in spades. Basically, if you've read Red Son (or better, JSA: Liberty Files) and enjoyed them, then you'll likely get a kick out of Bombshells.

This is the second time DC has done that... the Bombshells started off as statues, and before that were the Ame-Comi Girls.
Both times, they took something that would be easily dismissed as sexist eye candy and turned it into a surprisingly good story.
I've only bought & read one issue (a 'Suicide Squad' 'natch) and it wasn't bad by any means. Extrapolating: My sense (from reading only a single issue from late in the run) is that if you appreciate any single issue, it is likely that you would be accepting of much of the run.
Why would I speculate? I very much had the same feeling reading Bombshells that I had from Batman '66. I have read all of the Batman '66 titles (including the cross-overs) and that was a book with a commitment to keeping to a particular tone, with an unexpected amount of internal present in the title. Those books had a peculiar appeal to me that was consistent and fit a niche I wanted in my monthly reads.
I'll be looking forward to trying more of DC Bombshells, especially after the upcoming DC 'clix.
