So I noticed that the only thing people seem to care about on these game forums is Pokémon Go! And marvel puzzle quest, so maybe we can get some more activity if we, shall we say, widen our scope?
So please go nuts with all your 3DS stories/friend codes/criticism(for the games, not the system, ‘cause the system is awesome!)
So let’s hear it from the handheld corner of HCrealms!
My favorite part of having a 3DS is streetpass. I used to live in Chicago and take a commuter train to work, so I would pass by other 3DS owners on a daily basis.
The best streetpass I ever got was when I had written a little Linux scripting / Mario Kart joke as my greeting. My Mii was wearing a red turtle shell hat and I set my messgae to "./red.sh --fire". The next day, a girl I had passed had put on a green shell hat and wrote back "./green.sh --block". I was amazed that a complete stranger had gotten the joke, appreciated it, and took the time to joke back while hoping that we would pass each other again. That was one of the geekiest things that's ever happened to me. It was great.
As for actual games, I spent a lot of time playing Zen Pinball on that train.
The wife certainly enjoys the Streetpass function, but it seems people aren't using it as much any more. When I was going out of Town she even asked me if I could take the 3DS with me just for the Streetpass.
Right now you need to wrest it out of the kid's hands if you want to play 3DS games though. Lots of Pokemon and Yo-Kai Watch... We accidentally left a bunch of games at my mother-in-law's house when we visited her this summer, and just got them back. Wife already started playing Yoshi's Island again, I have been meaning to get back to Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
The general consensus where I work is that the 3DS is old and dead, which confuses me as games are still being released and they have some really good ones out too.
Recently played through Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, which I purchased for the multiplayer functions, and when not doing multiplayer I went through the Story mode which I had worried would be to simple for my taste, what with it being a Mario game.
That’s where I was wrong, it’s a Luigi game! It turned out to be enjoyable and challenging in much the same way Luigi’s Mansion (GameCube) was.
The multiplayer was also (and still is, IMO) stellar even for an older 3DS game.
The Scarscraper I find hard to believe could be truly endless, so I keep trying to make time to beat it. Floor 30-something is my record.
The highest I know has been reached is 166 floors defeated, (took 10 hours). No idea how they could do that...
Recently, with the release of Monster Hunter World, I haven’t been playing the 3ds as much as I used to.
But when I do, it’s to play Monster Hunter 3/4/Generations.
Generations is by and far the easiest, Monster Hunter 3/4 are about equal in difficulty. Monster Hunter 4 is my favorite of the 3ds games, but I really wish there were still underwater missions like in 3. Generations is good, but not really what Monster Hunter needed. World on the other hand....
