"A perfect example of this is last year’s elimination of the rule that “flyers” don’t take knockback damage from falling." What??? Flyers take damage from falling now??? When did this happen? I must have missed that memo. And more importantly, WHY??? It makes perfect sense to me that a character who can Fly and/or has Leap/Climb should be able to avoid falling damage.

Why? Probably to simplify the rules by removing exceptions to falling damage. As far as explaining why a flyer would take damage from falling, you could justify it by saying that when they got hit they lost control of flight when they got smacked.

Basically new rules 2017, 2018, 2019 after quite some time without new rules updates.
Basically just people complaining about change and not willing to have the game streamlined, translated to simplified, then scarecrow translated to "dumbed down." It's gatekeeping, and a good way to ensure this game dies without new players. The only thing on that list that even kind of bugs me is EB/N, but even then, I recognize it's to remove all sorts of corner cases. My only issue is that flying characters can still carry because they have the wing.
* People want to have their old Hypersonic Super Strength because it's powerful, nevermind if it's too powerful, because screw game balance if I got mine.
* Charge & Combat Reflexes: Clearly regarding knockback, but it seems a solid tradeoff for having to be close instead of ranged.
* Mind Control: Yeah, it's nerfed, so what? It was way too powerful before. Now you get to use your opponent's big guy to punch their little guy, and move it out of position. These are both still really powerful. It also means characters designed around MC get to have it for cheaper than they used to. I'm all up for that.
Non-binary. Please refer to me in "they/them" pronouns. Thank you.
Ideally, it would be nice if Flyers and Leap-Climbers had a chance to avoid falling damage. Maybe even a d6 roll, on a result of 5-6 no falling damage.
I like that they are susceptible to it, as we've all seen many times the flying character get knocked out of the sky and plummet to the ground. But a chance to recover from that, catch yourself before you hit the ground and fly back up, would be nice.

I thought I did. Don't remember reading that part.
It wasn't explicitly stated as being removed. In the new rulebook the exception isn't stated so it no longer exists. That is how we discovered that the DDM was removed, it is simply no longer mentioned in the rulebook.
I hate that they are disregarding water terrain from the article. If I had to pick one pet-peave in the game, it's that water terrain is a subset of hindering. Water terrain deserves to be a separate terrain type.

We both know that Mind Control will be even further nerfed. (Kidding not kidding mix)

But if they've been hit so hard and they are thrown back are they really in control of their ability to fly at that moment? I think its way more intuitive this way and its about time.
