I ACCEPT NOTHING SHORT OF EXCELLENCE: Once per turn, when Bruce Wayne's Apprentice would miss an attack, you may reroll that attack roll. If you do and Bruce Wayne's Apprentice is named Batman Beyond, increase the result of the attack roll by +1.

ENERGY EXPLOSION RANGE: Make a range attack, and all other characters adjacent to an original target also become targets. Hit characters are dealt 2 damage instead of normal damage.


Questions:

1. If Batman Beyond chooses EE and he targets one character and hits that character, but misses and adjacent character, would he be able to re-roll the attack via Bruce Wayne's "I Accept Nothing Short of Excellence" special attack power if Batman Beyond is Bruce's "Apprentice"?

2. I guess the same could be asked for Batman Beyond targeting 2 characters via EE as well? If he hits one but misses another?


Thoughts:

Bruce Wayne's special attack power says misses an attack, but nothing about targets. Would missing one target via EE be considered missing an attack, even though he hit other targets?

The reroll effect would still trigger, page 14:

STEP 3: DETERMINE HITS

If the attack total is equal to or higher than the target’s defense value, the attack succeeds and is a “hit” and the target is also “hit.” If the attack total is lower than the target’s defense value, the attack fails and is a “miss” and the target was “missed.” An attack with multiple targets can be both a hit and a miss at the same time for different targets.
