So our local store is running the following event next week.

Halloween. 333pts golden age. All characters must have at least one of these keywords: black lantern corps, church of blood, daemonite, demon knights, demon legion, ghost realm, justice league dark, legion of monsters, midnight sons, monster, mystical, sentinels of magic, shadowpact, skeleton army, vampire brood, werewolf pack, z-virus, zombie horde

And I had the beginnings of an idea with these two:



The idea was to go for a Soldier generic theme team while staying within the scenario requirements. Note, Battleworld hasn't arrived here in Finland yet, so no Man-Thing Soldiers.

It might be a little hard to find, but Slate works. He's more of a metaphorical monster, but he does have the keyword. I've used him to great effect on the Gotham City Museum map. He was doing some find work with the help of some Probability Control to PW and lock down enemy pieces while the "heist" took place. Eventually I got him to 13 attack as he took on a Harley & Ivy piece fairly high-powered from the Book of the Skull.
You can always round it out with the Toy Soldier. It's simultaneously acceptable yet a party foul to have Christmas-related stuff for a Halloween theme, but I'm sure animated toys out to kill you has been done enough times in horror. Added bonus: it can copy your Midnight Sons ATA if you include it.

I don't know how you feel about doubling up on Punishers or if you even have this old chestnut, but Franken-Castle could do you some good.

Be careful with that Punisher of the Strange--if I read his "To End the X-Vampires" Trait correctly, it applies to friendly Monsters as well, meaning it would nullify Blade's Regeneration.

I'd recommend Elsa Bloodstone or Witch Hunter Angela, but they're Warriors (and you mentioned no Battleworld yet)... hmm.

Oh, Spitfire! From NFAOS! She's fun to play. Hypersonic harasser, then when the opponent gets tired of that and taps her, she's a charge-flurry-blades-er.




Other than that, I think we've covered the majority of your options here. Surprisingly low amount of spooky soldiers in this game... you'd think The Haunted Tank would count, but nah, apparently.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for that conflict with Punisher and Blade. The Regen is buried so far back dial that I don't think it'll come up, though (watch it bite me in the %#½ now :D )

Due to points and my own collections, this is what I'm currently looking at going with, although I've got a week to flipflop on the decision.

Thanks, I'll post back here how it went, try to get lists for other teams and stuff like that. It'll be 1.11. though, we play Thursdays at the store and this is next week's game, I just have, for once, more time to plan ahead.

Bad news is our Halloween game got pushed back. Good news is it's because we finally got Battleworld here in Finland and we'll be playing sealed today.

Battleworld Sealed has come and gone abd left me with a Man-Thing Soldier, among others. Tomorrow these Soldiers will be the ones that go bump in the night.
