No, only standard figures can be equipped. A standard figure is defined in the 2018 rule book, on page 31, as the following:

• Isn’t a bystander (See p. 33 for Bystanders.)
• Has a single base or peanut-base (See p. 33 for
Multi-base Characters.)
• Has or backwards, autonomous [spelling it out, since we don't have that symbol yet] (or both) as its only attack
symbol(s), has or (or both) as its only
defense symbol(s), and has as its damage symbol.

Sure I suppose but that would be too much work and might be detrimental in other ways

If you equip a single-based colossal by changing their size, they would lose the benefit of the equipment once they revert size since they can no longer use the equipment.

Do note in older games, resources do not share this same restriction. you can assign resources to colossals unless otherwise noted like for exodia.

The Infinity Gauntlet is a Resource, not Equipment.
