BEFORE IMMORTALS WERE COMMON: Adjacent opposing characters can't be healed, can't use PROTECTED: Outwit, and can't use STOP clicks.
Question:
I understand that you would ignore STOP clicks when clicking damage due to this trait, but if a character gets knocked onto a STOP click, can it use any of the powers from the STOP click?
For example, I just happen to deal enough damage to Starfox to put him on his STOP click, can he use Mastermind from the STOP click, or does Odin shut all aspects of the power down?
This is an oddly worded power and I was waiting for this to come up!
As written you would not be able to use any powers on the same click as STOP. The intent might be that you "can't use" only the powers in the same special power/slot as STOP.
I would imagine this is only intended to prevent the use of STOP itself. The wording is odd, but it definitely doesn't say that they cannot use other powers. The term "STOP click" is not a term used by the rules in any meaningful way, it's just "STOP".
Something that I might have missed in the new rules... it used to be that the entire special power with STOP was Protected: Outwit, Pulse Wave. Where does it say that now though? I know the STOP keyphrase ability itself is Protected: Outwit, Pulse Wave. So that just applies to the entire special power when it is listed as a keyphrase?

STOP
When this click is revealed due to damage taken from an opponent’s attack, stop turning the dial. When this character would be healed by Regeneration or Support, it’s healed 1 less click. Protected: Outwit, Pulse Wave.

The game effect indicated by the new STOP key term includes the phrase “This power can’t be countered or ignored” so it will always prevent the special power from being countered or ignored. This includes not only the “stopping” effect of the power but also any other powers/abilities/game effects granted by the special power (for example, the Invulnerability power granted by Emma Frost’s special power in the example above).

I think this is the intent as well, but it is really weird wording and I am not even sure what they mean by "click" in this context or the context of STOP on the PAC after thinking about my previous question more.
This was the only thing I could find to support a literal interpretation and it is pretty flimsy

A single position of the combat dial is called a “click.”
Yeah, if his effect meant they couldn't use any powers, it would have to be worded differently. Same if it meant they couldn't use any other powers in the associated STOP power. Putting "click" after "STOP" in this context is pretty much meaningless. It only happened simply because that's how people always refer to a power with the STOP keyphrase. And, of course, nobody caught it in playtesting, and they don't have proofreaders.
And yes, it is just the STOP keyphrase itself that protects the power it is in, so it only applies to Outwit/PW. So with Odin, he could be adjacent to a character with a STOP effect, and then Outwit that power.
It says STOP Clicks and IMO STOP encompasses the entire power on that click not just the one thing that triggers the character to stop on that click. So in the event a character stops on that click the STOP Click looses it's Protected Outwit making the power subject to the power of Outwit, Pulse Wave, or any other means to negate an ability.
In non-Odin general case: the STOP keyphrase wording is effectively cut and paste into the special power and protects any other powers granted?
In a normal situation (no Odin's around) I can't Outwit Super Senses or Regeneration, right?
Right. Whenever "Protected: X" appears in a power, it protects the whole power, which includes being part of another keyphrase within the power.
The only other time this would come up is if a power grants the use of Great Size and some other powers, and you target them with Pulse Wave. Can't think of any real world examples off the top of my head though (fairly certain none exist).

Locally, this is the consensus, as well, but would love to get clarification from the WORF.

I definitely knew that part

This only seemed weird to me because of possibly something with Grea... oh...

I can submit something but I am 0 for everything on responses after the initial hot start to my WIN "career" lol. I assume I got blocked after one of the weekends when I sent them five separate questions.
