Star Trek Next Gen Main Engineering a(n Ultimate) map in progress
Normally it takes a commission to get me to create a non superhero franchise location (Jurassic Park being the only exception)...
However with the (hopefully) impending release of Next Gen clix in a couple months, and the fact official product is already hard enough to get here in Hong Kong, I thought why not make my own maps for it? I am going to stupid lengths to get my case already, why add the hassle of getting the official maps, when I'll probably feel I can make just as good if not better on my own.
I honestly am doing this because the other day I accidentally built something that with a few tweaks was easy enough to make into a proper Enterprise D warp core out of. So that's what I did, and since I had the central prop/focal point of the location, why not try making it. Geordi is going to need somewhere to hang out, and it's a good place for Klingons and Borgs to attack!
Here we are first progress, and man are we in the middle of the "ug" phase of creation (ug as in ugly). I'm only posting this to motivate myself to get it past this, as otherwise it will actually frighten me away in its current state.
I am happy with the Warp Core, and having it finished gives me something to solidly rally around.
I would like to see a map for The Great Hall for Klingons.
Romulans, maybe the Senate Chambers or the Scimitar bridge since it appeared to be so large and was directly connected to the Thalaron core...could make an interesting bit of orange terrain.

Great Hall maybe...
I'm more interested in ship locations. I'm likely to run a Trek RPG with these figs, and while I LOVE diplomacy, but it doesn't tend to turn into fist to fist phaser to phaser brawls in the Capital building of neighboring power's governments Boarding actions on their frontier ships however...
As for the Scimitar, take that Nemesis rubbish and throw it out my airlock please and thank you :P None of that franchise killing garbage in my map shop.
The only thing I enjoyed from that awful movie was the Valdore warbird design (I have 2 clix of them) and Dina Meyer as Donatra, for whom I'd happily collect a clix (I'll take ANY proper green blooded Romulan they give me mind you... even from the inferior films and shows). However none of that Reman rubbish (and I wanted so badly to like this new aspect to the Empire, but they were terrible as presented. Especially the Scimitar. The only time I've received joy from the Remans was the one liner about their use in the Dominion War, and the body guard ones that popped up as cameos in Enterprise).
No if I do a Romulan location (which is highly likely... they're my 2nd fav Trek baddies just behind the Dominion) it'll be a Warbird bridge to recreate my two fav eps from DS9 (the Die is Cast) and Next Gen (Face of the Enemy)
^actually that gives me an idea...go with "The Die is Cast" and make sure you get the interrogation room Garak interrogated Odo.
What about Spock's underground caverns from "Unification"? The Proconsul's office with holographic fake walls, fake Spock, fake Riker and security detail? The market that Picard and Data ate soup at and then got dragged off from? Those all seem boring...not nearly enough good Romulan themed locations...
..what about the hangar from DS9 with a Romulan shuttle in it so Garak can sabotage it?
Is there enough reference to do the section of the Romulan ship that Kirk stole the cloaking device from in "The Enterprise Incident"? Could be a heist map like the Gotham Museum.
Do you have plans for the inside of a Borg ship or even the Unicomplex itself?
I can't wait to see how they do the Orville map(s)...bridge with conference room and ready room hopefully...and that random hallway off the back of the bridge.

Well I'm not going to doing a million Trek ones off the get go. NO ONE in Hong Kong overall is a Trek fan sadly... so I'll have to rope someone into my Trek game(s), and clix was hard enough (and they DO like superheroes)
So the aim is engineering, an Enterprise D bridge, a Romulan bridge, and if I have an left over steam and this endeavor doesn't become real work (artifact detailing franchise stuff can become tedious quickly) a Klingon bridge.
If I get a DS9 set, I'll got hog wild and probably do a solid year of DS9 themed stuff. I like Next Gen, but my true Trek love is DS9. I'm not sure if I would have made a TOS Ent in relation to its set release, but I'd already made the WHOLE Enterprise as a commission.
Had those two empty rooms to fill. Decided on Data's lab right away for one. Not because it was in the Engineering section (that I'm aware of. They never really placed it on the ship in the show... and I haven't touched one of the tech manuals since I was in middle school in the 90's) it just is engineery feeling.
Stuck on a second room I asked my wife, and she wisely replied the Transporters, on account of Chief O'brien (she really likes DS9 like me). Yes, I know not technically in engineering again, but there are more than one transporter room, AND they are very engineering in their orientation.
