MASTERMIND When this character would be hit by an opponent’s attack that deals damage, you may choose an adjacent friendly character that wouldn’t be hit by this attack and that is less points or shares a keyword. That friendly character instead becomes a hit target of the attack, even if it’s already a target (or would be an illegal target).
If Lafey is attacked and uses Mastermind, would the attacking stats be modified (since LaFey is not long the target)?
Going to say no. Reason being mastermind comes into play when she would be hit. The attack value is calculated when the attack is made. So she is targeted. Opponent can’t modify combat values since thy target her. If she would be hit she transfers whatever damage she would have taken to her fodder. Not sure how a critical hit would play into this though.

I would say yes because even though she is no longer the target of the attack WQL was still attacked, then Mastermind makes her no longer a target, and then the action resolves

But that's not what the power is asking it's asking "was she attacked" one declares who is the target is, the attack is made, THEN Mastermind triggers it doesn't matter if she's no longer the target an attack was made against her
Combat values are calculated on a need to know basis. It's obviously too late for the Attack Value, which have been prevented from being modified, but now that she is no longer being attacked during Step 3 of the Attack Sequence, the Damage can now be calculated using any applicable modifiers in Step 4 of the Attack Sequence, assuming she is not Masterminding on to another Untamed Weirdness, or similar, character.
Critical Hit prevents form using MM as it make the tragte character "become hit", bypassing MM and SS.
If it didn't, Critical Hit adds to Damage Dealt, which isn't a combat value.
Ah yep that’s what I was forgetting. I was trying to remember what got around mastermind and could just think of how precision strike used to not be able to be transferred.

I was pointing out the order of operation FIRST The Attack is declared, then the targets are determined, then dice are rolled to see if the targets are hit, and THEN the defensive powers (if any) are triggered. Her power asks if she was attacked and Mastermind only makes her no longer a target IMO it doesn't change the fact a character attacked her

Her power doesn't care if she was attacked. It cares if she is being attacked.
