Based on the wording of this power, only generic close or range attacks may be used as opposed to CLOSE or RANGE attacks, correct? I am asking specifically to see if Pulse Wave could be used.

Just vanilla attacks would be allowed.

Note: there is no such thing as a CLOSE or RANGE attack. Those are, by definition, actions. Learning that difference helps understand these interactions.
