I was thinking about putting together a Harpie Deck a while back, but there just weren't enough good cards to put in it. No with Rise of Destiny out and the Advanced Format here, things are looking up. This is a first go around and I'm trying lots of new cards, so things might get shuffled around a lot in the coming days.
Bro, Use those Mirror Walls. Since HHG is really that thing ur working with, it will help keep ur monsters up there. If u like, side HPD (Harpie's Pet Dragon)
Replace 1 hunting ground with rising air current. the hunting ground may backfire on you if your opponent does not have any spells or traps on the field. but it's not worth getting rid of completely. pet dragon can be very powerful in these new harpie decks since each harpie lady 1 contributes 600 attack points to it, but only if you can get your hands on one.
take out winged sage, not a good card. swap one birdface for another flying kamakiri.
btw, check out my harpie deck in my sig
I may add a Rising Air Current for a Harpie's Hunting Ground, I haven't decided yet. I want to play around with this build of the deck for a while and see what the problems with it are before I really start cutting it to shreads. It seems like most of the first builds I have for decks get smacked around until I refine them a little bit.
Maybe I should start making everything cookie cutter to help me out.
Alright, so I did a few slight modifications to this deck:
-Heavy Storm
+Giant Trunade
-Covering Fire
+ Torrential Tribute
I took apart one of my decks that I'd been running for nearly a year, so I had som cards to play with. I'm using Giant Trunade in place of Heavy Storm to save my field magics. See how everything goes tomorrow when I finally get to play this deck.
So what I'm thinking of doing is adding in a Reckless Greed to help offset the cost of Offerings to the Doomed. What do people think of that idea? It would also give me a bit more draw power which is never a bad thing.
I'm also thinking of switching out Reload for Card Destruction, since Card Destruction is a bit more versatile.
hrm, i made a harpie's deck but i mixed in a little ASF. the idea was to have them set their spells then destroy it via HHG or a mobius. also threw in some coldwaves. mix in some tornado birds and they'll never get a spell off! i thought it was pretty sound in theory... but it didn't exactly perform the way i wanted it to...
well, just another idea :]
as for the reckless greeds... not too sure lol. i wouldn't know wot to take out :(
i'd actually rather keep reload, but add a painful choice. that card works wonders with reload, and is great by itself.
I've been on and off the boards lately. I haven't had that much time to play, which kind of bums me out, but I still fiddle with my deck all the time, so when I do play I have a bunch of new things to work with.
I may put in some Cold Waves. If I did that this deck may start to resemble the old Wind Deck that I tried, remember that one? This deck actually works a lot better than the Wind Deck I had did, so I'm not sure if I need to much more S/T removal/prenegation.
I haven't grown too fond of Reload. It never seems to come up when I have a good amount of cards in my hand, and when it does come up, I never quite get what I'm looking for from it.
What I have done to the deck tonight is:
-Swords of Revealing Light
-Reload
+Reckless Greed
+Card Destruction
It's very possible that I will switch out the Card Destruction for Painful Choice. I thought I already had Painful in this deck, it's generally something I add to ever deck these days for thinning and drawing. We'll see how everything goes. This deck is pretty fun to play, so I'm happy about that.
I'm not sure how I feel about Harpie's Pet Dragon. I'd definately like to test drive one, however they are quite difficult to get your hands on. I wonder if there are any plans to reprint it anytime soon. That would be something I'd be interested in as far as reprints go.
Last night I added in Magical Scientist, Snatch Steal and Creature Swap. Not really sure why I never thought of Creature Swap before. It fits to well with this deck not to use it.
I updated this deck tonight to take into account the new bans/restrictions and because there was a bunch of fat in the deck that I needed to trim. Here's what I've done:
+ 2 Garuda the Wind Spirit
+ Sangan
+ Slate Warrior
+ Cyber Jar
+ Swords of Revealing Light
+ Graceful Charity
+ Lightning Vortex
