I have seen plenty of question/arguement break out because of this card so i hope this thread helps. For example the most annoyingly persitant one would be barrel + wall of revealing light. This question has came up in here too many times with ppl argueing that its a game winning combo.

When an EFFECT that inflicts damage to Life Points is activated (except Battle Damage), switch the damage you receive to your opponent’s Life Points.

Well that is barrel behind the door. You will soon see why the effect part has been caped.

In my area there was much constorvarcy over this. Everyone in my area believed that you could use barrel on such cards that require a cost in there effect i.e injection angel lily. This is incorrect. Lily's cost is a cost simple as.

Now on to more pressing matters.

Barrel behind the door + wall of revealing light.

Wall of revealing light

When you activate this card, PAY any multiple of 1000 Life Points. None of your opponent's monsters with ATK equal to or less than the Life Points you paid can attack.

Now here was a many of a problem began. Pay 8000 and barrel it right?? No. PAY is our main word here. PAYING is a cost NOT an effect. Barrel clearly states that you can only barrel EFFECT damage. Since a cost isnt effect damage you can't barrel it.

Barrel behind the door and continous magic and trap cards.

Now i found this a little confusing a while ago. Stuff like wave motion cannon is an effect and not a cost so y cant u barrel it. Why i think you cant is that you must chain barrel to the actual activation of the effect. In wmc case there is no damage to barrel when it is activated.

These continous cards are things like :-

Wave motion cannon
Tower of babel

What you can use barrel behind the door on.

You can use barrel behind the door on such cards as :-

Ring of destruction
Magic cylinder
Princess of tsurigi
Just desserts

and some of the more used Monster Effects of...

Cannon Soldier
Catapult Turtle
CED

and many other i cant be bothered to look up because its too early. These cards and cards like these cause EFFECT damage. Hooray not ones that are costs but are actual effect. On ring of destruction for example its says

Destroy one face-up monster card and INFLICT DAMAGE equal to the destroyed cards atk to the LIFE POINTS of both you and your opponent.

This card isnt continous so the damage is dealt when it is activated and it doesnt say you pay meaning it is perfectly legal for you the chain barrel to it.

Well i hope these thread stop all the questions and flame wars i have seen on barrel threads. So be merry and duel happy.

well, you got a number of things correct in your statements above. the one thing that i may have a problem with is presentation.

yes, we have a number of people in here that are taught things incorrectly by players that want to bend the rules so they can win unfairly. its really not their faults.

you have a "dammit, can't you guys get anything right" attitude, instead of a "that's not exactly how it works, please let me show you the correct way" attitude.

you go far and above in helping others understand, and keeping their attention, in using the latter approach. the former comment tends to not get you the respect that you need when enforcing rulings at an event or becoming a good judge.

just something to think about in here. also, you'll find that you may get something incorrect somewhere down the road (heck, i can't think of anyone in here that hasn't been wrong at least once) and when that happens, people will be more forgiving to you when you make an error other than use your same comments redirected back at you.

posts like your are always appreciated by the community, but try to lighten up a bit and your rep in here will go a long way...

Yes...I see tons of questions....it's especially....strange...how someone asks if <card that's payment> works...I or someone posts the ruling about how it doesn't work against payments....and then RIGHT after, that or some other person asks if it works against another card that pays....

ie. "Can I use Barrel Behind the Door on Wall of Revealing Light for 7000 damage?"

We say no and give the ruling and explaination(s) as to why and then right after....

"What about Injection Fairy Lily?"

what we need are little symbols. You know how Flip effect monsters are easily identified by the "FLIP:"

How about little "$" somewhere next to the cost text, to help identify it? Hello? Konami?

Or at least say (This is a payment) and (This an effect)
