if you discard "archfiend of gilfer" due to the cost of a card such as magic jammer etc does it work?

as i've been told it will only work if it is the last thing in the current chain such as desrook.(not being able to revive for tribute summon)so archfiend of gilfer would not work with things like tiv.however it would work with painful choice as the cards being sent to the graveyard is the last action of painful choice's chain.

just making sure before i think of any strategies for my deck.

i really think it will work cuz in the game u can do that and it works, but its in the game so it might change.

Unfortunately Gilfer is a optional effect. becuase of this the very last thing to happen has to be him going to the graveyard in order to activate his effect. if he is discarded for a cost for an effect then you can not use his effect. also he can not be used if tributed.
