Alright lets get this straight in lame mans terms.
Can u summon a monster into defense mode face up?
If a monster is summoned into defense mode face down does it count as being summoned or do i have to wait for someone to attack it so i can flip it and then count as a summon?
Can I use the defense mode monsters face down for a Tribute Summon?
When someone attacks the face down defense position monster will it turn into attack mode ?
(temporarily ending my no posting in rules streak)
You cannot summon a monster into face-up defense from your hand unless:
a: The monster's effect says you can
b: There is a card on the field (such as Light of Intervention) that allows you to
c: The monster is a Special Summon from your hand, and it doesn't specify in any way that it can't be Special Summoned to face-up defense.
If it's set in face-down Defense Position from your hand (as your normal summon/set for the turn) it's NOT considered to be summoned. If it's attacked and flipped face-up, again, that is NOT considered a summon. If there is a card that allows you to summon a monster in face-up defense position, then it IS considered a summon. If you manually flip a monster from face-down defense to face-up attack, it IS considered a summon (Flip Summon). If you Tribute Summon a monster, is IS considered a summon. If you just normal summon it in face-up attack, it is considered a summon.
You can use a face-down monster for a tribute summon.
If your face-down defense monster is attacked, it will turn to face-up defense position.
