Ive had a lot of trouble making a really good water deck. I mean REALLY good. Tournament winning good. I think I have done it!
My problem was trying to find exactly what type of water deck to use. Yes there are just as many as the cookie cutter sub types aka; chaos, chaos/beatdown, chaos/controll, chaos/warrior, and so on. With water ive found legendary ocean(LO), LO/bigwave smallwave, LO/stall, LO/controll, and so forth with a few diffrences in each.
To those of you unfarmilliar to the water genre, Ill explain a few of thies decks previously mentioned. A full on LO deck usually consists of 3 LO's with at least 2 terraformings with every other card having an effect that works with LO. ie; Levia dragon, mermaid night, Legendary fisherman, Giga Gagagigo(pronounced, gah-guh-jee-goh), Amphibious Bugroth MK-3, and others. 2 problems... 1, the cards on there own without LO are not that great. They are all to situational meaning; there effects are activated only on the situation of LO being on the field. And 2, top decking LO really, really hurts. Bad.
For fun I thought I'd try big wave small wave. You can basically put anywhere from 5 to 7 tribute monsters in your deck. with three mother grizzles you can special summon a tribute monster to the field(if there is a monster already) then play another monster for a normal summon. Example; If I had a mother grizzly on the field, with BwSw, Levia, and Gagagigo in hand; I play BwSw, remove mother grizz for Levia Dragon, Then play Gagagigo. Bam! 4450 atk. Sweet combo, 2 problems. 1, Even with 4-5 tributes in the deck, it really hurts to top deck a Levia, then a Giga, then a BwSw fom an empty hand. And 2, I makes me mad when I top deck LO!
Out of frustration I thought Id try a LO/stall. You know the combo. Gravity Bind, Level limit area B, LO lowers star levels so I can attack and they cant. 2 problems. 1, Let me paint a picture...... Ive got a level limit area b active on the field and a gravity bind waiting. Two of my 4 star monsters in def mode waiting to pounce. My opponent is frusterated by my ancent stalling technique. And now all I need to do is top deck that Legendary ocean... I draw.... and oh! Nope. I'll get it next time..... Nope! Still waiting..... stilll waiting... still...... waiting............................Hey! A pot of Greed! Yes! NO!!! Do you see where im going with this!? NOW I cant top deck LO to save my life. Problem 2. My hand is empty and its my turn....... THERE IT IS!!!!!! AHHHH!!!
Anyway. I found the solution. Get rid of the very card that has been plauging my deck from the begining. Yes, Legendary Ocean. I know it sounds crazy. Some might say, "Well what is the point of a water deck without LO!?" 3 Better cards that's what. A water deck can be very good without LO. You just need the right Monsters. Water decks are perfect for monster field controll. Try this out. 2 Abyss Soliders, 3 Nightmare Penguins, and 3 Compusory Evacuation Device. I will admit that the spell and traps are very "controll deck," But with the abyss and penguins your opponent cant keep a monster on the field. It is very effective. Them three LO's gone really do make a diffrence. No more Situatonal monsters and no more bad top decking.
There can be a few cards diffrence between Monsters, spells, traps and how many of each according to prefrence. That is what the side deck is for in the deck example, for all of you who might want to try it. Let me know what you think! [email protected]

NO ALO!! Its so crazy, it may actually work. I run a water deck and have run the gambit from beatdown to control to a a burn variety with Wave Motion cannon.
I'll have to test it out. One thing that stands out in your side deck though. If you take out ALO, then take out Levia too, because he is not worth it without his effect.
Otherwise 8.5/10. Nice thinking outside of the box.
Ya, the side deck changes every day for me. I had to fill it with something. I'll be sure to take out the Levia dragon. Salvage I might look into. I dont know why I never thought of that befor. silly me!
